Condor used to fly to BWI.... cost us some distance. Those who listen to #travelstories know that is just yet another knock against them in my book.
For fun, I charted the longest routes from each state.
The longest is New York to Singapore, 9,536 miles. The shortest is West Virginia to St. Pete, 797 miles.
For 19 states and DC, the longest route is domestic.

Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport has been attacked again, two regional officials told the Associated Press on Saturday. One said the airport was evacuated, and the other said air traffic had stopped, speaking anonymously.
A Riyadh resident told AP he heard at least two loud explosions. The airport told passengers to check their flight status with airlines before traveling. A number of flights are already showing as cancelled for today.
AP says the airport has been hit repeatedly in the week since a Saudi-led military offensive began against the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen. The Houthis claimed earlier attacks, including Wednesday’s, which killed a Sudanese national and wounded eight. The Saudi civil aviation authority said Wednesday that attacks that week on the Riyadh and Abha airports killed three people and wounded 36.

We aggregated five years of Google Flights data to find the best booking windows for holiday travel this year. Here’s what to know:
✈️ For Thanksgiving travel, flights tend to be cheapest in October.
✈️ For Christmas travel, the sweet spot for booking is 56 days out (October 30th).
✈️ Connecting flights can also be a big money saver. Nonstop tickets are 20% more expensive on average.
✈️ When you travel is key for saving: Departing on a Monday and returning on a Tuesday or Wednesday saves about 14% over weekend flights (and up to 20% domestically versus Sunday).
✈️ Wednesday beat Tuesday as the absolute cheapest day to book a flight, but the difference is negligible — buying a ticket on a Wednesday only saves you about 1.4% compared to Sunday, the most expensive day.
