What's on the agenda this week?
Senate Republicans are trying to jam through a crypto bill that would let Trump continue lining his pockets off the crypto industry.
We’re live on the Senate floor to fight back.

As Semafor reports, sometimes it takes a group of bankruptcy geeks to tell the difference between an easter egg and a time bomb.
This letter by a group of law professors explains the risks of the "insolvency safe harbor" in the pending crypto bill.

Today is the day we've all been waiting for. October 15. Early voting in Georgia has begun. And that means one thing: Jimmy Carter can cast his ballot for Kamala Harris! He's getting his birthday wish. God bless him.

Equally good: @vickieastus making the motion for the @bkdems to endorse @KamalaHarris #WhenWeFightWeWin
One of the few good parts of that @bkdems meeting: I got to formally move to have the party endorse the NY ERA - which is kinda apt since @INDBrooklyn did circulate the letter to @JayJacobs28 asking that the @nydems work to make sure the ERA is passed.

It was a privilege and an honor to participate in this symposium! Thank you to the J-Reg editors for a truly thoughtful (and helpful) edit.

In bankruptcy, majority of claimants can bind everyone. That's not a "settlement;" it is coercive federal power. That's why profitable companies should not be allowed to use ch 11 solely to terminate legal rights of women with ovarian cancer.

Nothing better than library book photos!
Has your public library ordered copies of Unjust Debts?
Please ask - many libraries make it easy to do on their websites.
More information about why library users will want access to the book: mbjacoby.org/unjustdebts
Love seeing the deserved attention on @melissabjacoby’s new book. Grateful to @MCPL_Libraries for ordering it!

Fewer struggling small businesses can use streamlined form of chapter 11 because Sen. Paul blocked the bipartisan effort to keep a higher debt cap in place.
Can someone point me to any explanation from Sen. Paul?
The debt limit to file for Subchapter V bankruptcy is expected to revert to $2.7m this Friday unless Congress acts quickly.
There IS a bill that'd keep this cap for another two years, but I'm told that Sen. Rand Paul placed a hold on it. More in @Inc

The best way to get ready for the debate is learn about bankruptcy! You're just going to waste that 90 minutes otherwise, this way you get an incredible event at Greenlight with Prof. Jacoby.
