"The programme book is an offensively clever object: four inches wide, 23 inches long. Useful perhaps as a fly -swat, but about as easy to read as the Rosetta Stone." That was a Pina Bausch review; "offensively clever" is my favourite bit of criticism, ever. RIP Clement Crisp

£24m cut from Arts Council's London NPO budget is equivalent to the total funding for every org receiving <£250k - 179 companies, 2/3 of the portfolio. Also equivalent to exactly 1 Royal Opera House

It's been fun helping pull this together over the past few months - there's a really extraordinary, huge and determined coalition of individuals and organisations behind it

Never met anyone like him, and never will again. He inspired love and awe wherever he went, had the fiercest intelligence and the most generous spirit. Only teach what you know. Teach everything you know. Do it with love. RIP Bob

Super proud of my AMA colleagues and the recognition of their crucial role helping the arts workforce and companies in the coming months and years
We're grateful to @DCMS, @ace_national & @hmtreasury for awarding us funding from the #CultureRecoveryFund. It means we can continue to provide support for our members and the sector. #HereForCulture

Remember when finding money in an old coat was best thing ever? Just found £10 and thought “Paper money? What the hell am I supposed to do with this?”

The Government wants us all to retrain as boxers. Then each district will choose two champions, or tributes, to go to the capital to compete.

% public consuming digital culture generally increased for all socio-economic groups, but more slowly for working class in areas like TV and music streaming. This suggests the digital class divide in cultural consumption further increased in lockdown.
How did our cultural consumption change during the #COVID19 lockdown? Insights from our 6 week study with @The_IPO @AudienceNet include a widening of cultural class gap, boost in content creation & uptake of newer forms of content like online theatre & art bit.ly/31fhRIR

Controversial opinion, but if you want to run an arts org and earn - say - £286,000, good luck to you. But lift all boats. Have a pay ratio of 3:1, and if you can make your business work paying a median salary of £95,333, you’re good

Three thoughts: 1) Really grateful for these life-saving grants, including but not only to orgs that I work for 2) Solidarity with anyone who didn't get what they need 3) The "crown jewels" are missing from this list?
For the third fund in our Emergency Response Package, we’ve offered £33 million to 196 of our NPOs across the country, to keep much-loved cultural organisations of all sizes afloat until the end of September Take a look at the full data > bit.ly/2BL9zQk

I’m no fan of hyperbole, but my timeline is undoubtedly world-beating at having opinions about the arts and culture bailout we all wanted

We should have had #AMAconf this week, and what a week to have it. Some thoughts on that, on working in the arts, on things that suck and people who don't medium.com/@timcwood/you-are…

this is mainly an excuse to share links to people saying more interesting things about the arts right now, like @artsemergency @slunglowalan @biglittlethings @ChrisUnitt @mhmandrew @davidjubb @andrewrecinos @kwamekweiarmah @GraeaeJennyS @culturepeopleUK - read their stuff first!
Darling arts activist pals: it’s the Treausry we should be focussing on, not Oliver Dowden. – at Lewisham, London
