Gave nothing ….
… as long as you don’t count buying Russian diesel and waiving major new sanctions on Russia.
"This was an amazing thing. We gave nothing in exchange, which is very rare."
President Trump reveals how a personal request to Vladimir Putin secured the release of American Stephen Hubbard after years in Russian captivity.
Trump says he raised Hubbard's case during a conversation about the war in Ukraine, simply asking, "Could you let Stephen Hubbard out, please? And he agreed to do it."
Now, Hubbard is heading home with his family and Steve Witkoff, with Trump describing him as "the happiest man around."

There is only one person in this picture who voluntarily did something that jacked up diesel prices! (Hint: its not the man from Kyiv!)
🇺🇸‼️🇺🇦 The Atlantic: Trump believes Ukraine is deliberately attacking Russian oil refineries to drive up global energy prices and hurt Republicans in the November midterm elections.
Three people close to Trump told The Atlantic that he sees these strikes as an attempt to undermine Republican electoral prospects and, by extension, his presidency.
This belief has reportedly fueled his anger toward Kyiv, with his administration threatening to restrict US military and intelligence support unless Ukraine stops targeting Russian energy infrastructure.

I realize that Vance and Witkoff couldn’t care less about murdered Ukrainians and their stolen children, but they apparently believe that an authoritarian who loves to collect American hostages can be described as a “humanitarian” for eventually releasing them.

Of course, we are not losing this war. But we are losing people. Because of the Russian attacks, we're losing people and time. It's such a pity, because our children don't have a real life and childhood. Not only children, but all people. That's why we need to end this war as quickly as possible. I hope that our partners, Americans and Europeans, will help us. God bless, our strong soldiers stay strong on the battlefield. It helps me stay strong during any kind of negotiations.

Commenting on today’s inflation figures for September 2026, ONS Chief Economist Grant Fitzner said

ALT Inflation climbed notably in September to its highest annual rate in almost a year. Increased fuel prices were again the main driver, with the cost of diesel the highest since July 2022. Other upward pressures included airfares and, to a lesser extent, computer games and live events, which are often volatile. Grant Fitzner, Chief Economist, ONS

Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Zhybrov, commander of an aviation squadron of Ukraine's 299th Tactical Aviation Brigade, was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
Oleksandr lost his life on February 24, 2022, helping to slow the Russian advance - he steered his damaged Su-25 toward a column of Russian occupiers. Oleksandr gave his life so Ukraine could fight.
I am sharing this story because I want to emphasize that Russia did not capture Ukraine in three days not because Russia "got stuck in the mud" or something like that - Russia didn't take Ukraine because Ukraine refused to be taken and we fought with everything we had, and have been fighting ever since.
From the first minutes of Russia's full-scale invasion, Oleksandr organized the relocation of his squadron and its equipment to a designated operational airfield to protect them from Russian strikes.
Later that day, Zhybrov was among the first Ukrainian pilots to engage Russian forces from the air.
Oleksandr flew a Su-25 ground-attack aircraft over Kherson region. His mission was to stop Russian forces advancing from temporarily occupied Crimea.
Near Chaplynka, Zhybrov dropped bombs on a Russian military column. He then spotted engineering vehicles used to establish river crossings and decided to launch a second attack.
During the attack, his Su-25 was hit by Russian air defenses.
With his aircraft on fire and nearly uncontrollable, Oleksandr steered it directly into the remaining Russian vehicles. He attempted to eject, but there was not enough altitude for a safe ejection.
Eternal memory and eternal glory to Ukrainian Hero.

The Easdales employ 1,500 people and run buses people choose to ride. Their wealth comes from actually delivering a service.
Swinney’s SNP has given us Europe’s highest drug death rate, a £700m+ ferry fiasco years late, the QEUH hospital scandal (dead children, cover-ups), missed NHS targets for years, and declining schools, all while taxing everyone more.
I would trust a fox with the henhouse before I would trust Swinney.
