Of course crisis support matters. But I think we should be more uncomfortable with how often a child has to pay the price before adults treat emotion regulation like something worth teaching.
If we really believe these skills matter, they cannot keep living at the edge of education, waiting until a child is already overwhelmed enough for everyone to agree they matter.
They belong where we put the skills we actually expect people to use for the rest of their lives.
