From the Keepers of the Dream Awards, the Women’s Empowerment Luncheon, and the Reverend Dr. William Augustus Jones Ministers’ Luncheon, to the Youth and College Day Job Fair, the ARTIVISM Fashion & Talent Showcase, the NAN Documentary, and critical conversations on voting rights, economic justice, and protecting our future, this gathering reflected the full scope of who we are and the work ahead.

Today we celebrate a lion for justice, my little brother in the movement, Rev. Charles E. Williams II. From the days he stood beside me as a young firebrand committed to change to now leading the Michigan chapter of the National Action Network and pastoring the historic King Solomon Baptist Church, Charles has grown into one of our movement’s strongest voices within NAN and a necessary voice across the broader fight for civil rights.
On his birthday, we give thanks for his faith, courage, and unrelenting commitment to justice, equality, and service to the people. May God continue to bless him, his beautiful family, and his ministry.
Happy birthday Rev. Williams. Keep shining, keep marching, keep fighting.

On Thursday, August 28, the 62nd anniversary of the March on Washington, we moved the fight for justice to Wall Street. Thousands from across the country marched with us to send a clear message to those in power: you can raise prices, bankroll politicians, and roll back DEI, but you cannot silence the people.
Brandon Wolf of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Rev. Charles Williams, NAN Michigan State President, reminded us that power belongs to We the People, and we will not stop organizing, marching, and demanding equity in the boardroom, the classroom, and the ballot box.
This was not just a march; it was a call to action. We will keep building power until justice is reality for all.
