Speaking at the 2026 No Kings: Vote Early rally in NYC’s Washington Square Park. The demonstration was part of more than 3,000 planned #NoKings actions nationwide challenging the direction of the country and encouraging early voting and voter participation ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. youtube.com/watch?v=q2YbcNh1… @No_Kings @USATODAY

During MSNOW’s special #NoKings coverage yesterday, I spoke with Jacob Soboroff about the importance of turning the energy of demonstrations into organized action and voter participation ahead of the midterm elections. History has shown us that movements bring people together, but lasting change requires organization, mobilization, and discipline. We also discussed concerns over voter suppression, the importance of protecting access to the polls, and ensuring voters feel confident exercising their rights. instagram.com/reel/DepT2zbBC…

Yesterday, during MS NOW’s special coverage of the #NoKings protests with Antonia Hylton, Maya Wiley, and Eddie Glaude Jr., we discussed the importance of giving young people a platform and a meaningful role in movements for change. I started as a teenager, becoming a youth director under Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Bill Jones at just 13 years old. If they had not given me that opportunity, I would not still be doing this work today. Young people must be at the forefront because they will live with the consequences of today’s policies longer than many of us. As I said, “This is not an old folks thing, this is an our folks thing.” Eddie Glaude Jr. reminded us that every generation must discover its mission, fulfill it, or betray it. This generation has a responsibility, and November will be a defining moment. instagram.com/reel/DepNNboPr…

Yesterday, during the special #NoKings coverage on MSNOW, I spoke with Antonia Hylton alongside Maya Wiley and Eddie Glaude Jr. from Washington Square Park in New York City about how protests become movements that bring about real change. The energy and enthusiasm of a protest must translate into action in our communities, from getting people out to vote to organizing and reaching those who weren’t in attendance. History has shown us that it has never taken a majority to move a movement forward, but rather a committed minority willing to do the work and make the sacrifices necessary for change. instagram.com/reel/DepEqU5NT…

During MSNOW’s special coverage of the #NoKings protests, I spoke with Antonia Hylton about President Trump’s targeting of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and the broader political message being sent. From Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr., history has shown us how political power has been used to target those who challenge the establishment. But every act of intimidation can become an opportunity to galvanize, organize, and mobilize. When they go too far, we must turn their attacks into momentum for change.

Speaking with Antonia Hylton during MS NOW’s special coverage of the #NoKings protests, alongside Maya Wiley and Eddie Glaude Jr., I discussed the power of protest and why marching must lead to organizing and voting. History has shown us that movements begin by galvanizing people, but real change comes when that energy is turned into action. From the 1963 March on Washington to our recent March on Washington this past August, the lesson remains the same that you must awaken people before you can organize them. Today, Americans of all races, ages, and backgrounds made their voices heard. We may not agree on every issue, but we agree that the people, not kings, should determine our future. The march is not the end, it is the beginning. instagram.com/reel/DenoTy0Ap…
