2%. The % of teachers who describe using AI tools "a lot" has not budged a bit even given 11 months, improved AI models, and lots of teacher PD. Especially if you have "AI" in your bio, I want to know what you make of this. xitter.cf/ddmeyer/status/1853508…
In December 2023, 2% of teachers surveyed by Education Week said, "I use AI tools a lot." 11 months later they have surveyed teachers again. Any guesses what % now say "I use AI tools a lot."

For the past several months, I’ve been deeply concerned about Israel’s war in Gaza, thinking about what I can say or do, as an American, as a Jew, as a former Congressman. But one thing is crystal clear: the war must end.

Geometry construction problem: given a 24 in side square, layout a regular octagon with the same center and four sides that are segments of the square? How does this problem change depending on the tools you have? How would a carpenter actually solve this? #ITeachMath #geometry

🥳Publication day for #UndergroundMathematics! Thanks to everyone involved❤️ Here’s a short🧵to its main argument: How did practical mathematics and a culture of accuracy developed in EM Europe? Rationality wasn’t just about scholars, it included craftsmen and artisans too!

How does HS math prepare students for college math? What can we do to optimize success? It's a great question - one that we now have a lot of data about. It's complicated & easily-misinterpreted. And what those data reveal is pretty astonishing. Buckle up.. 1/18

So far: reading @hpicciotto website, thinking a lot about tools like patty paper, Geogebra. Also thinking about artisanal math: construction, mechanical, craft, and nautical contexts.
