Illustrators & picture books deserve to be elevated & championed. The Kate Greenaway & all its glorious history did that. It’s a distinct award with a distinct identity & a distinct purpose. To remove its name & blur it with the Carnegie, seems to devalue all of that. Pls sign.
KATE GREENAWAY AWARD
Comments and signatories to this still increasing; we've had many messages ahead of the CILIP AGM later month.
Dr @rosevroberto and I will make a statement on Monday. So please keep signing and sharing! We've something to say soon. #KateGreenawayAward

I’d hazard a guess that the number of celebrity children’s books created as a brand extension exercise rather than a quality reading experience doesn’t help children’s books achieve the respect and consideration they deserve.
Why is children's literature not considered as important as other literature? 📚
Gruffalo and Tabby McTat author Julia Donaldson tells @JustinOnWeb that despite Britain being 'famous' for children's books, she's unsure why the genre gets 'little attention'.
