Jalen Brunson just said he hasn’t gone away on vacation with his family yet since the championship because he made it a point to stick around and feel the energy in the city. That’s our king of NY. 👑

New York will avoid the second apron this season:
Total cap charge of Shamet, Clarkson, Diawara, Alvarado, Drummond this season:
$17.5M

Mo Diawara’s contract is such an incredible value for the Knicks
2026-27: $2.6 million
2027-28: $2.7 million
2028-29: $2.8 million (non-guaranteed)
2029-30: $3.0 million (team option)
A grand slam for New York.
If Diawara develops into a solid rotation piece, the Knicks have a versatile, two-way 3-and-D wing locked up through 2030 at less than 2% of the cap!
If he flops or gets hurt, the Knicks can simply move on in 2028 with no negative financial ramifications

Rate the Knicks’ Offseason (so far):
Lost:
- Mitchell Robinson (FA)
- Ariel Hukporti (FA)
Added:
+ Andre Drummond (FA)
+ Tyler Nickel (Draft)
Re-Signed:
+ Mohamed Diawara (FA)
+ Landry Shamet (FA)
+ Jordan Clarkson (FA)
+ Jose Alvarado (FA)

Salary Cap hits in 2026-27:
BOS: Mitchell Robinson = $15M
NYK: Landry Shamet + Jordan Clarkson + Mohamed Diawara + Jose Alvarado + Andre Drummond *combined* = $17.5M

With these cap figures, and the Knicks adding 2 additional players on the veteran’s minimum to get to 14, it then puts them roughly $822,000 under the 2nd apron.
