How does a 3000 seat organization use @NotionHQ successfully? They don't do it alone. Had a great time talking to Mike Beall whose love for Notion is contagious! Mike gets a VIP front row seat to Notion working at a company with thousands of users in one Notion workspace. Notion State has worked with Mike and team for a long time now to get this right and in this weeks episode of Notion State of mind, we talk about it! We don’t all see a page the same way. Tamara walks us through designing high contrast mode, and making the same page work for people who see it differently.

Flashback to when my older brother and I bought both Pokemon games every generation and he always gave me the one he liked least (Ruby, FireRed, Pearl, HeartGold) 😭

Should you just recreate your old system in @NotionHQ? ...maybe? Change management is tricky, messy, and inefficient. But it's the job. It's not about the software or the system or the structure - it's about the people. People are the most important part of Notion State consulting because it's people we build tools to support - not the other way around. Bringing someone into Notion is a success and sometimes that initially looks like not recreating the wheel for them and upending their entire workflow. It might look like recreating it in Notion and then working from there to help them discover what's possible. It's all about helping people work better. A perfect unused tool is perfectly useless. Catch the full conversation this week where we talk about Notion by Industry in our latest episode of Notion State of Mind: youtube.com/watch?v=_o8SM_Rq…

Last week, we launched column permissions! I’m not on Notion’s video team, but with the help of @claudeai, @bot, and @NotionHQ, I made a trailer over the weekend. (How I made it in 🧵)

This. Is. A. Big. Deal.
Column permissions are finally here! Your #1 requested feature. Control exactly who can view and edit each property in your database. So the sensitive stuff can stay private 🔐

This one's for the @NotionHQ nerds! And the most fun episode we've recorded! I guarantee you'll love it. We BLIND ranked 5 random Notion features and along the way got into the history of feature releases (looking at you tabs block 👀) as well as what we love and what more we want to see out of them. And Nosey apparently isn't called Nosey anymore?! Notion is this true? see what they are and how we ranked them in the full video at: youtube.com/watch?v=N9S_k1xz…

Simplicity on the far side of complexity - did I get burned out on Notion State or did I actually reach Jedi master status? I LOVE building complex stuff in @NotionHQ and it's what made me good at the tool. I did so much unproductive tinkering that it became the most productive thing I did! It's why I have a career in the Notion ecosystem! But to actually use Notion to support your life's work - let me propose to you that nothing beats simple. Simple means the gravity of your focus is on the work the system supports, not whether the system is working correctly or optimized perfectly. The perfect data model is a striving after the wind! Is @NotionHQ still a note-taking app? We talk about Notion's growth from "just a note-taking app" to the powerhouse for business it is today. But did Notion sell it's soul? 👀 I think Notion continues to care deeply about individuals because individuals are the heart of a company - they're the end-user and more important than ever in a business setting. "The individual in a company is what a block is to Notion." 20 episodes in to our podcast and this has been one of my favorites to date! full episode: youtu.be/PiysVYnkXik?si=kTCp…
