Asian Americans are not underrepresented in university classrooms—but they are vastly underrepresented in C-suites and boardrooms, where affirmative action policies are also under threat, writes @Columbia's @JLeeSoc:

Some will never understand how dehumanizing it is to be treated like this … at one point the father says “I would die for my son,” b/c he is literally making that calculation …
Can’t undo this. Why would father or son *ever* have *any* faith in law enforcement after this?

Republicans think that they won last night.
They did NOT win!
Here's a video of a 'Covenant Mom' embracing expelled Tennessee Rep. Justin Pearson.
- Make sure this video goes viral.
- Make sure everyone knows what this man stood for and what Republicans stood against.
- Make sure you never forget what happened last night in Tennessee and 9 days ago in Nashville!
THANK YOU Tennessee Three!

New post! "PNAS is Not a Good Journal (and Other Hard Truths about Journal Prestige)," in which I decry our ridiculous reliance on the impact factor, poke fun of the Nature Industrial Complex, and note how metascientists reinforce prestige hierarchies. getsyeducated.substack.com/p…

Journal editing is a lot more than implementing policies. To help get us on the same page, I created this guide for @CollabraOA editors. I thought others might be interested, too. It's full of (possibly wrong) opinions. I hope it stimulates discussion!

Anti-Asian racism was not born of #COVID19.
In #California—home to 1 in 6 #AsianAmericans—22% reported having experienced a hate crime or hate incident BEFORE the onset of COVID-19.
What COVID-19 did was make anti-Asian racism and violence more rampant and impossible to ignore.

Please, new profs, as you get clarity on your duties, do not assume folks will protect your time/interests just bc you’re new faculty. They may want to, but inevitably there will be some conflict and you’ll be the first to get sacrificed. The reasons used will be logical too

#AsianAmericans are not getting social support in the aftermath of racial trauma.
I know this from my #StopAsianHate research findings and I’m seeing similar themes in the aftermath of the #MontereyPark and #HalfMoonBay shootings.
