Anybody saying “Smith gave us the opportunity to vote” is rewriting history. Smith expressly promised that the Stayfree Alberta Petition Question would be on the ballot if we got the required signatures. We did. The question was designed to comply with the Clarity Act. Smith’s addition of the additional questions was done to intentionally confuse the issue and create a pressure release valve to get people to believe that there was an option to Independence AND to ensure that the question would not comply with the Clarity Act. Then her creation of the question to have a question all but ensured the result that came in last night.

ALBERTA MEDIA ALERT 🚨 The exact strategy that Smith and Anderson gamed out to get Danielle off the hook with the Independence oriented people who made her leader played out last night. SMITH got to pretend that she was on side with independence oriented Albertans by “giving” Albertans a “referendum on independence” but she and Rob Anderson knew that the phoney 9 questions created enough of a pressure relief valve that a majority wouldn’t vote for independence. Anybody that thinks a yes vote to the 9 questions means anything obviously didn’t listen to Carney say that HIS position was NO TO THE NINE. Smith now has no leverage to negotiate anything with Carney because of all the Option 1 voters who thought the yes votes mean anything without leverage. Notwithstanding this ALBERTA INDEPENDENCE achieved a 25% province wide tally with 75% or rural UCP Members voting for independence. I give Smith and Rob Anderson full credit for brilliantly playing her base with an elaborate “bait and switch” reminiscent of her campaigning for leader on an ALBERTA SOVEREIGNTY ACT only to enact an “Alberta Sovereignty within a United Canada Act AFTER she sucked WEXIT party members into buying UCP memberships to make her leader only to completely screw them over the second she took power. SMITH and Anderson are two of the most devious and duplicitous political operators that I have ever seen. When UCP members figure out how badly they have been played I hope they run Smith and Anderson out of any position of leadership. It is for this reason that I have maintained that Alberta will NEVER become an independent country with a proper constitution that protects its citizens from crooked politicians as long as Smith leads the UCP. Smith concocted a 134 million dollar Sienfeldesque “Vote about nothing” for the sole purpose of neutralizing the forces of independence in the UCP leading up to the 2027 election.
