This collection is literally more than 1000s of audiovisual materials, accumulated over years of work based on the needs of the Humanities programmes across the university. It seems like the library has been downplaying this facility since the pandemic - why?
The library has a small collection of audio-visual resources including DVDs, CDs & audio tapes. You can watch them in 2 locations in the library or you can borrow a portable DVD player from the library. Find out more: libguides.library.university… @UniOfGalwaySU @galwayhuston

I've heard there was up to a thousand people at the Shannon protest yesterday, shutting down access to the airport for a time. How is this not reported on RTÉ?
Fantastic to have such a huge turnout in Shannon today, demanding an end to the support for genocide. The Irish government has to listen. It's gone on too long. #USMilitaryOutOfShannon NOW
How are these solutions being put in place?
More transparency in terms of admin work required for this process would teach a lot how hard/costly immigration can be for non-Western students and staff.
Palestine has been teaching us the world of unfairness for a long time.
We are aware that Palestinian students who have been offered places at the University via the Copty Scholarship are facing financial challenges. We have a solution in place that will be finalised imminently. If you would like to find out more, please read the full statement below.

ALT Full statement reads: We are aware that Palestinian students who have been offered places at the University via the Copty Scholarship are facing financial challenges. Queen’s has already extended the scholarship scheme for this year, and have proposals in place that will see an additional allocation of £7,000 of financial support per student for this academic year, only to support visa fees and travel.

Here's the setup: We work in tandem with An-Najah university @AnNajahUniv in the West Bank, and their TESI initiative. An-Najah enrolls the Gazan students, sets up the virtual classrooms, and acts as the umbrella for the whole online teaching project.

One of many consistencies in so many university statements the last seven months is how rarely, if ever, they seem to realise that they may have Palestinian students and faculty, let alone from Gaza.

If we make the effort to see films from the “Middle East” that is one of the places where the (otherwise blurred) gap between mainstream and independent cinema is quite a thing:
"The Palestinian film scene is vulnerable because of the timidity of European funders, whose cultural policies are shaped by their governments," film critic @joseph_fahim argues
