Intel CORE ULTRA 9 4950K. for Z990 boards
single thread score near 1000
multi thread score near 20000
28 cores

Update:
Single-cluster E-core cutdowns will retain the L3 cache configuration of the non-cutdown variant.
For example:
8+12+4 will have 36MB, alike 8+16+4
4+4+4 will have 18MB, alike 4+8+4
Lower SKUs are unaffected:
6+12+4 is still 30MB
This applies to Nova Lake -HX as well

Non-bLLC
8+16 36MB
8+12 33MB
6+12 27MB
4+8 18MB
4+4 15MB
4+0 12MB
2+0 6MB
Unless there is an agnostic L3 cutdown on the SKU-level I’m unaware of.
Panther Lake is so good that I just dropped having a separate desktop machine. Everything is just running off the Dell XPS 14". It's a real joy to see Intel get back in the game with such a compelling chip! Omarchy runs like a dream on it.

Panther Lake has single-core performance like an M3, multi-core performance like an M5, and a fantastic iGPU too. All the while being incredibly power efficient. Huge leap forward for x86 and thus Linux. I've been using it in the @dell XPS 14 for a while now. So good.

It appears @Microsoft is actively suspending developer accounts with no warning or reason of various security tools like VeraCrypt, WireGuard and also Windscribe. We've had this VERIFIED account for 8+ years to sign our drivers.
We've been trying to resolve this for over a month, and getting nowhere. Support is non-existent. Anyone know a human with a brain that still works at Microsoft and can help?
FFmpeg is moving to Rust 🦀
Our use of C and Assembly in FFmpeg has been an unacceptable violation of safety.
FFmpeg will be running 10x slower - but we're doing it for your safety.
All your videos will appear green - safety first, working software later.

BS. PTL shortage is mainly due to very strong demand and severe lack of 18A capacity. Intel under genius Lip-Bu stopped funding foundry expansion plans which looked like a great idea at that time. But it now looks stupid as f*ck.
Intel did say more capacity will come online in Q2 which should increases supply and ease the pressure a bit.
Has nothing to do with yield or anything else. Current 18A yield should be on par with N2 easily.

The anti UE5 larpers are the worst, and I am pissed that I am associated with these ppl as a SWDev

The processor can boot through only LP-Ecores, or both LP-E-cores and E-cores with P-cores disabled. All P-cores can be disabled, leaving only E-cores, and entire compute dies can be disabled.
Cores can only be disabled per-cluster, as both P-cores and E-cores are now clustered.

Intel's Biggest Generational Leap in Laptops in Over a Decade: NVL-H
Recent Panther Lake leaks strongly indicate good performance, excellent efficiency, excellent GPU & NPU, good pricing, etc. It's safe to say Panther Lake laptops are definitely a lot better than *both* Arrow Lake & Lunar Lake laptops.
While people are talking about Panther Lake laptops and even future Nova Lake desktop parts, no one seems to be talking about Nova Lake laptop CPUs. I think Nova Lake is going to the biggest generational leap for Intel in laptops in over a decade!!!
Their Zen moment. Or Sandy Bridge moment. (Or whatever you like)
From 2021, since the launch of Alder Lake (ADL-H), Intel laptop CPU performance has been incremental at best (with some regressions too). There has been no *significant* jump in Laptop CPU performance over the years. But for the first time in many years, I think Intel is set to break the trend with Nova Lake Laptop CPUs. A huge jump in performance which leapfrogs *all* AMD laptop CPUs and significantly closes the gap with Apple Silicon.
If you think PTL is a threat to AMD Laptops, then Nova Lake laptops will finish the game for good.
Intel x86 laptop market share as of now is around ~80% (Nov 2025). PTL & NVL-H will increase it further.
A laptop with Nova Lake CPU and RTX 50/60 series dGPU will be totally badass!!!
