Every time critics walk into this one. At least read better anti material if you’re not going to read Biblical scholarship/contexts.
Alma 7:10 reads “at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers.” Amarna letters (found 1887) use “land of Jerusalem” for the surrounding region; one names a town Bit-Lahmi (often linked to Bethlehem) within it. Dead Sea Scrolls also use the phrase.
A forger steeped in the KJV would more naturally write the famous “Bethlehem.” The regional phrasing fits known ancient Near Eastern usage better than an expected 19th-century slip. Many historical Jesus scholars already treat the Bethlehem nativity as theological rather than strictly historical. Thus, in this specific case, alignment with later-discovered ancient usage is more plausible than a pure blunder.

The Book of Mormon takes place in the ancient Americas and, like the Bible, was written by Jesus Christ's followers. It teaches His gospel and testifies of Him. As you live the teachings found in the Book of Mormon, you can find peace and truth.

There are some LDS accounts that are criminally under followed. Y'all need to be stepping it up.
Before you immediately jump to your feelings about what you think you know about Joseph Smith consider:
Joseph Smith said “One of the grand fundamental principles of Mormonism is to receive truth. Let it come from where it may”.
And he also said unapologetically that “truth will cut its own way”.
It’s not about if the Great Apostasy claim offends you, it’s whether the historical and theological claim that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints make is true. If true, it would behoove you to engage with it honestly. If true, God is absolutely wishing for you to sincerely explore the claim.
