It’s very liberating to not have any analytics in @halidecamera. We could spend a lot of time on testing and user stats.
But we make an opinionated product instead.

Alright folks, gather round and let me tell you the story of (almost) the biggest engineering disaster I’ve ever had the misfortune of being involved in. It’s a tale of politics, architecture and the sunk cost fallacy [I’m drinking an Aberlour Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch]

For the record, at Uber, we're moving many of our microservices to what @copyconstruct calls macroservices (wells-sized services).
Exactly b/c testing and maintaining thousands of microservices is not only hard - it can cause more trouble long-term than it solves the short-term.

I‘m confused about Sign In with Apple: developer.apple.com/app-stor…
If app is using Facebook or similar „exclusively“ to sign in: required Sign In with Apple.
If exclusively companies own account system: not required.
But what about apps that offer both (neither exclusively)?

A program is not only code written to be executed by a machine; primarily it is a letter, written in a formal language by a programmer, where he explains to another programmer which problem he had and how he solved it.

I’ve written a lot of Go. I’m in the “no try()” camp. Another way to do something to save LoC doesn’t hold weight with me. A single way to do something creates clarity in logic, even at the cost of more loc. Go is great because its unapologetically simple. github.com/golang/go/issues/… – at Manhattan Beach, CA

It strikes me again and again that companies already HAVE all the innovation talent AND ideas they need.
What they DO NOT HAVE are tools, processes, rituals, KPIs, & incentives required for innovation to thrive!
Why not? Because they’re optimized for management not innovation.
