I hate this. I hate that people, even when slopping, don't even think about how it works. This has to end poorly and I don't see how an increase in "intelligence" is going to save you from the results of blind feature lust
I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude. There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

Being able to explain a complex topic in simple terms is one of the clearest signs of intelligence.
So, about Opus 5…
A year of waiting… hours and hours watching… and the freaking Le Mans 24 stream dies on the final hour. @StanSportAU thanks for the great experience

Unpopular Opinion: We aren't building the future 10x faster with AI. We are just generating legacy code 10x faster.
Everyone is currently bragging about developer velocity. "I built this entire backend in a weekend!" "AI wrote 80% of my codebase!"
But here is the reality check we are ignoring: Code is a liability, not an asset.
If an AI tool spits out 1,000 lines of functional boilerplate in five seconds, that is still 1,000 lines that a human being has to read, review, secure, and maintain when the dependencies inevitably break next year.
We are treating code generation like a pure productivity win, but we are optimizing for the wrong metric. The bottleneck in software engineering was never how fast we could type. The bottleneck has always been comprehension, architecture, and maintenance.
If we don't shift our focus from "generation speed" to "architectural sanity," the tech debt of the next five years is going to be an absolute, unmaintainable nightmare.

Elixir v1.19 released: enhanced type checking, broader type inference, and up to 4x faster compilation for large projects! elixir-lang.org/blog/2025/10…
A huge thank you to Fresha, Starfish*, and Dashbit for sponsoring the type system, plus @CNRS and @Remote for making it possible.

Engineer shows up to standup. Says he's depressed. Says building distributes systems is hard and time consuming. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where all packages have vulnerabilities and the systems have no reliability. The team at standup says, "Treatment is simple. Great engineer @tekbog is on the timeline tonight. Go and DM him. He should fix all your issues." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But guys...I am @tekbog."
If you ever wonder what downloading stuff from the Internet was like in the 90s, grab the @battlenet installer and try downloading any game there. Most accurate dialup connection sim out there!
I watched the new Dune movie and my only complaint is that they didn’t cast @OfficialSting to play Feyd again. Come on, missed opportunity there.
