I might have to do something like this but for Amy but @/guessingdame already made something much more thorough and detailed. Twice. Yall do your homework before flinging accusations and taking isolated moments out of context. It’s disingenuous and way too extra.

No shade to anyone in particular, but I've noticed that those who dislike the Marie Garnet/Pilot origin for Sonic either don't get it or misunderstand the point of it👀
Can't blame em since it's more abstract and not a literal origin. Just #nooticing

If you want to write Sonic accurately study Sonic X, even if it bores you. Learn him there, then put him in any story you'd enjoy and he'll feel like Sonic. That portrayal of Sonic has been through so many scenarios so whatever question you have, he's probably already answered it

Some people have had the audacity to say X Sonic is boring, has no screentime, when it's further from the truth.
But one thing X Sonic did so well, is how they handled Sonic at moments like this. Realise how Sonic doesn't give a speech that basically describes himself 1:1 like it's ripped from Wikipedia?
Everything about his character is told through his actions, his little replies, his expression, his exchange with Dark Oak, and the ambience of the landscape. Even when Dark Oak believes his struggle to fight is inevitable, Sonic also encourages Dark Oak to 'keep going and fighting', despite them being enemies. This contrasts so hard with IDW, which make him a mouthy character that desperately wants to bring others to his side.
X Sonic translated/interpretated the Sonic IP better than every any other Sonic media, and imo its writing eclipsed many official Sonic games too.

Beta Windy Valley is easily one of my favorite Sonic levels visually speaking with it being a perfect blend of the surrealistic and colorful landscapes seen in the classic games and the realistic textures of SA1 visuals.
Which, makes its redesign all the more unfortunate to me.

“I play by my own rules” And that’s exactly it. Sonic doesn’t let time limits, missions or others dictate him. He does what he personally believes is right, because that’s just who he is. He helps people in need not because he has to, but he WANTS to. A heart of gold

Ah you mean active, not dynamic then. Yeah, even then, Sonic is almost always depicted as a passive protagonist

Eggman causes trouble (active), Sonic reacts (passive).
Sonic is almost never a plot pusher.
It's why this point baffles me. Typical Superheroes actively look for trouble to stop and people to save.
Sonic passively does it when the chance is presented.

the fact that this has to be said lowk tells me that the majority of “sonic fans” aren’t really Sonic fans. You don’t have to particularly like the characterisation of Sonic but let’s not pretend the traits he once had never existed or didn’t make sense for his character.

Sonic might be playfully cocky but is NOT arrogant. If anything he’s actually really humble underneath. When Merlina praises Sonic as a knight he gets almost self conscious and tells her to cut it out or when Shahra calls him legendary and he says she HAS to be kidding
deadass a lot of this discourse wouldn’t happen if yall paid attention to the media, you supposed like. Please use these scene as framework bro, it’s not just hype and aura but it tells you a lot about Sonic’s character. There’s more videos below but do ya homework man fr.
I lowk wanna add that a simple way of understanding Sonic is to look what drives his actions.
Sonic is driven by his own personal morals and values, he does what he simply thinks is right. Regardless if it’s not, his views align with ours due to his pure heart and ect. (1/5) 🧵
