In addition to Informa/Routledge and SpringerNature/Palgrave, US university presses now face two new giant commercial entities covetous of UP reputations - deGruyter/Brill and R&L/Bloomsbury. But our acquiring editors still too often see other UPs as the main competition . . .

All the more reason to get it if you haven't already. JN.1 will likely become dominant here by the holidays

It's pretty remarkable that you can see exactly when school starts in the Covid data by age.
Look at how sharp that spike is vs adults, then after all the susceptables are infected in 2wks, it plummets.
Pretty convincing of the high rate of spread in schools.

Amsterdam’s plan to remove 11,200 parking spaces from its streets by the end of 2025 is even more inspiring when we realize the kind of people-places that are possible where cars used to be. Example — #Amsterdam’s Elandsgracht between 2014 & 2019, via @schlijper’s great pics.

Getting a bivalent booster is a no-brainer. It increases neutralizing antibody titers against the two dominant variants (BQ.1.1 & XBB) approximately 10-fold. It would be foolish not to get boosted. 1/
Our latest publication on the neutralizing ability of bivalent mRNA vaccines against BQ.1.1, BF.7, and XBB.1 is out now in @NEJM
TL;DR : Bivalent boosters are good boosters and induce nAbs against BQ.1.1 and XBB.1 @BarouchLab @airisyc @ocpowers5599
