IF Eritrean soldiers are fighting in Afar as Ann reports then they have crossed over the border into #Ethiopia in violation of Ethiopian #sovereignty. Thus an offensive military action by #Eritrea, which should be condemned. Eritrean soldiers must withdraw back to their country.

Eritrea appears to be turning a renewed military and diplomatic confrontation into a campaign to portray itself as the victim, now calling on the UN to intervene against Ethiopia. The central question is not who first appealed to the international community, but what actually happened on the ground, whether Ethiopia’s sovereignty was violated, and who bears responsibility for the escalation.

Step by step the needless conflict in Northern Ethiopia is expanding. Even someone as misguided as Eritreans Dictator Isaias should think twice before sending his troops into Ethiopia. When he did that in 1998 he suffered a huge loss. Stop this now.
