Sadly, obituary of my much loved wife, Sue Barker, a wonderful woman @socialworksusie theguardian.com/society/2025…
Note- this does not apply to homeless people.
I know how many people worry about what happens to their home when they’re gone. And I get it. You spend a lifetime paying it off, and then the government takes a slice before it can pass to your children.
Inheritance tax was meant to be for the super wealthy. Now it hits ordinary families in every corner of the country.
Your home is where you watched your children take their first steps. Where you put up the same decorations every Christmas. Wanting to pass it on to your family is one of the most human instincts there is.
That’s why the next Conservative government will make sure nobody ever pays inheritance tax on their family home.
On top of that, couples will be able to leave an extra £1 million tax free. Every inheritance tax bill will be cut, and the number of families paying it will fall by more than half.
You’ve worked hard and saved. What you’ve built should go to your family, not the government.

Bizarrely, the story about @michaelgove’s former girlfriend charged with possessing child pornography, is no longer on the Daily Mail website.

Methinks he doth protest too much.
Drinking non-alcoholic beer has to be the gayest shit a man can do. If you want or need to be sober, be sober. Drink sparkling water or Diet Coke or what the fuck ever. Knocking back some fake beer is legit faggotry beyond comprehension. Nobody drinks beer or booze for the taste. You’re trying to mimic the taste of booze without the effect. Gayyyy

HMV on Oxford Street is closing, three years after reopening.
A lot has changed over that period around minimum wage, national insurance, pensions.
Theoretically, 100 young full-time minimum wage staff would cost around £600,000 more today than when they reopened.
Could someone have a quiet word with MP sat behind PM this afternoon and suggest if he is going to continue with this style of braces he might buy a waistcoat?
Crikey, @andyburnham is giving a masterful performance in the House of Commons this afternoon. Very prime ministerial unlike some recent predecessors

Another Monday, another massive Tyneside @My_Metro problem. Is anyone tracking how often this is happening? #newcastle
We have a service suspension on the Yellow Line between South Gosforth and St James in both directions due to an overhead line issue. We are working to resolve this and aim to restore services as quickly as possible.

Michael Gove publicly announces split from his partner on 4th October.
On 10th October, the story about his ex being charged with possessing indecent images of children was made public.
This story fucking REEKS!

We have now been threatened with legal action for posting this.
We wondered why no other news outlet dared post about it.
There must be some sort of super-injunction.
Well we have no money or assets so they can sue us if they like.
What we said is factually accurate.
A University of Oxford lecturer is to be tried on charges of possessing indecent images of children.
Lola Salem, interestingly aged 33, was suspended by Oxford's Oriel College in June after it became aware of the charges, which she denies.
She recently dated Michael Gove for 2 years.
Three of the images are classed as category B, the second most serious category, and one is classed as category C.

Just heard a funny story. The great Murray Walker was travelling with a BBC team to Spa for the Grand Prix. He casually mentioned he recognised a cafe on a small road near the circuit. He was asked if he meant last year.
"No, it's where I parked my tank in 1944 and had a beer"
