We're now watching a prerecorded talk by Sophia C Anderson on shape analysis of bovid humeri. The sound quality is excellent. It's as if Sophia is invisible.

In my natural habitat today, surrounded by many old ichthyosaur friends at the @NHM_London.
Despite studying these beautiful fossils many times over the past decade, you never lose that "wow factor" walking in this gallery.

Hard but important truths for palaeontology from @anjgoswami in her @svpca2020 keynote. Diversity in palaeo is terrible and is not improving, esp at senior levels. Acknowledge this, be aware of your biases, actively consider who you collaborate and interact with. White women too.

ALT Photo of a slide being presented by Anjali. Slide title is ‘a naive expectation of improvement’. Main points are that hiring and promotion are increasingly subjective at senior levels, and cannot be dealt with via HR policies - they are based on things that can’t be policed, such as who is excluded from collaborations and not given credit, and leaving no room for others. Changes to treatment of people already in post also vital.
Today is the day! We are very excited to welcome everyone to #SVPCA2022 🎉
Our logo references the architecture of the NHM's historic Waterhouse building and the skeleton of the holotype of Mantellisaurus atherfieldensis, one of the most complete dinosaurs ever found in the UK. The logo was designed by @PaleoStu stuartponddesign.com
#SVPCA2022 t-shirts have landed! Here modelled by @CassCretaceous. We're getting excited to see everyone on 21st September @NHM_London #NHMdino
In 2019, we 3D scanned the Mantellisaurus holotype, and the scans are now freely available on morphosource. @NatGeoUK wrote this great article on the project: nationalgeographic.co.uk/pho… and look out for @palaeojoe's forthcoming monograph on the skeleton in PalSoc Monographs #nhmdino
