Less than a month ago, @CookPolitical designated South Carolina's U.S. Senate seat as "Solid R," the most unassailable of partisan designations.
Basically, that meant there was NO WAY @TheDemocrats could win the seat.
Now, thanks to @DarlineGrahamSC (Nordone)'s ongoing campaign of subtraction, the race has shifted two slots to the left - to "Lean R."
With two weeks to go until election day, @AnnieAndrewsMD has a real shot here...
New @CookPolitical ratings changes:
#SCSen: Likely R to Lean R
#MSSen: Solid R to Likely R
#MNSen: Likely D to Lean D

Georgia Early Vote: Day 1
2024 Day 1: 30.0% Black
2026 Day 1: 36.6% Black
Because Georgia doesn't have party registration, some of the most interesting data we can get from the state is race data. And today was a very, very strong day for Black turnout compared to Day 1 in 2024 (or to be honest, it was more of weak day for White turnout. Overall, turnout was not especially impressive).
It's important to remember that Georgia's 2024 early vote was generally very good for Republicans, so this was a relatively low baseline for Democrats. Still, that baseline was exceeded by a substantial margin.
This shouldn't be especially surprising given that in-person early voting has also been going much better for Democrats than in 2024 in Virginia (where we have a lot of data) and Ohio (where we have a little data). A relatively consistent story is beginning to emerge across these states. Black turnout was also very strong in primary elections this year.
There are two big questions going forward.
1. How good was today actually for Democrats?
Was this just high-propensity Black voters who were going to turn out anyway, or are we seeing unusually strong participation from lower-propensity voters, which is predictive of a bluer electorate in November? And how Black is that lower-propensity electorate?
We'll get much more detailed data tomorrow through our partnership with L2, including voters' past party primary participation and turnout propensities. This will help us understand not just the racial composition of today's electorate, but what that means.
Georgia's Day 1 early vote data will also be added to our early vote tracker at VoteHub tomorrow morning.
2. How much of this can stick over time?
This is closely related to the first question, since understanding the propensity of today's voters gives us some clues about how "real" this surge in Black turnout is and how much it will stick through the final electorate.
I don't think a Black share this high is at all sustainable throughout the early voting period, and I expect it to tick down in the coming days. But it's a very strong start that gives Democrats a lot of runway.
Virginia offers a useful comparison. Even focusing on lower-propensity voters, the first couple of days were the high point for Democrats. Republicans then began picking up steam, which is also happening in Ohio right now.
But in Virginia, that Republican improvement eventually stopped and even reversed slightly. We're now left with an early voting electorate that is tracking to be more Democratic than in 2025 and much, much more Democrats than in 2026.
That's an important distinction--when the first days look like this Democrats don't necessarily need to maintain their opening-day advantage throughout early voting for the overall electorate to end up substantially more favorable to them than 2024.
A note on the data:
Right now, 9% of voters on Georgia's state website have their race or ethnicity listed as Other/Unknown.
Many of those voters will be Black, too. Tomorrow, when we receive the more detailed data through our partnership with L2, we'll have modeled racial classifications for those voters as well.
So the 36.6% figure isn't necessarily the final Black share of Day 1 voters. Once we account for the unknown voters, I suspect it could be closer to 39%. Georgia is 32% Black, so that's huge Black turnout.
For now, I wanted to make an apples-to-apples comparison using the state's own data from 2024 and 2026. So I've calculated the Black share as the number of Black voters divided by the total number of voters with a racial classification, including Other/Unknown in both years.
We'll have a much clearer picture in a week or two, but this is a very substantial opening-day increase in the Black share of Georgia's early electorate.
p.s. I do think it's worrying for Republicans that Rick Jackson has spent $170 million on ads and this is what he got turnout-wise Day 1. Not a good sign for Paxton's $$.

IDK but when the women are telling you “this is good advice”, the married men are telling you “this is good advice” but the single guys are telling you “this would never work.” You might want to start seriously reconsider who to take your advice from. Unless you of course do not want a wife, which is also very much fine too. Carry on.

Attention Young Men:
I am surrounded by 20 year old girls in my life that are smart, capable, hard working and cute. Nobody is dating them. Not sure what the deal is, but I don’t get it.
Step 1: Stop playing video games
Step 2: Head to great clips and get that lettuce cleaned up
Step 3: Hit a shower (when dating hygiene is critical)
Step 4: Go clean your car
Step 5: Sign up for a yoga class
Step 6: Go to the yoga class
Step 7: Ask a cute for her phone number at yoga class (yes you can meet girls IRL and not just on the apps - 10/10 the Dirt Dog highly recommends)
Step 8: Follow up within 2 days with a phone call and ask them out for this coming weekend Friday or Saturday night.
Step 9: IMPORTANT - come up with a good game plane for date night. Get a dinner reservation, get an activity planned. Let them know in advance what you are doing so they can dress appropriately. I know you are gunna roll off the couch and head to date night, but they are not. They are going to stress about what to wear and call at least 6 different people on FaceTime to ask their opinion.
Step 10: I highly recommend you bring flowers to the door step. I’m not covering that you go to the doorstep, because if you don’t do that you have no hope here. Women want men to date them. You don’t need to break the bank on flowers. Head to Trader Joe’s. Grab 2 different kinds of flowers. If you don’t know what matches find the closest looking lady to your mom at TJ’s and ask her. Wrap the 2 flowers into 1 bouquet with paper. Bonus Points you can cut open a TJ bag and use that as the paper.
Step 11: Be a gentleman on the date. She isn’t there to hear your life story. Ask her about her. For every 1 question you answer, ask her 3. Open Doors, pay for the meal, be polite.
Provided you follow most of this guideline you are highly likely to get yourself an opportunity for date number 2.
Keep going until you find someone that you can’t imagine not being around all the time. That’s when you have found a good one for you.
My life is complete with my wife as my companion. I wish you the same fortune in life. Happy Hunting.

Well, there you have it. The New York Times just reported that Trump's own handpicked contractor called bullshit on the serial lying conman's claim that "vandals," "thugs," and "sick people" were the cause of the Reflecting Pool fiasco.
In government documents dated August 14 and September 2, Atlantic Industrial Coatings admitted the blue liner peeled because the job itself was botched. The incompetent workers Trump hired didn't put down enough primer — the company called that "human oversight." Worse, the repair plan mixed two incompatible chemicals. The top layer got hotter than the layer underneath could take, blistered, and came apart.
It wasn't knives in the dark, radical left lunatics, or a conspiracy of tourists. It was a rushed, Trump-pressured, no-bid job that failed on the contractor's own paperwork. Trump knew it and lied anyway. Then to save face, the heartless piece of shit tried to jail innocent people for a screw-up his own contractor had already admitted.
