"A spiritual film about coming back home within."
Colette Ghunim reflects with Melissa Barrera and Dr. Ed Hasan on reaching a personal breaking point and realizing she had been searching for home in people and places that were temporary. In that moment of deep grief, she found a sense of divine presence and came to understand that the deeper journey of Traces of Home was not about finding home outside herself, but returning to the home within.
Colette Ghunim is the director of 'Traces of Home', with Melissa Barrera serving as an executive producer and Watermelon Pictures distributing the film.

“Why would I go see the occupiers living in our houses?”
Colette Ghunim reflects with Melissa Barrera and Dr. Ed Hasan on returning with her parents to Mexico and Palestine to find the homes they were forced to leave as children. Her father was initially reluctant to return, knowing he would have to confront the pain of seeing others living in the home and land his family lost.

"Where women are running things"
Melissa Barrera reflects with Colette Ghunim and Dr. Ed Hasan on the surprising similarities between Mexican and Palestinian moms from strictness and the seemingly GPS-enabled chancla to the emotional walls women can carry across generations. What starts with laughter turns into a deeper reflection on vulnerability, motherhood, and breaking through that protective shell.

The #GENOCIDE has not stopped. There was never a ceasefire, only the propaganda of one. Children are still being slaughtered by American-made bombs.
Those who survive the blasts are left beneath the rubble, still alive, as the ruins become their graves.
The ceasefire Israel signed included a commitment to allow thousands of mobile homes and caravans into Gaza, along with the heavy machinery needed to clear the rubble and shelter millions of displaced civilians.
They were the bare minimum needed to keep civilians alive.
Yet Israel continues to block that lifesaving shelter and equipment, leaving desperate families with nowhere safe to go. They seek refuge in damaged buildings that collapse on them.

How many times have you seen a Palestinian arrested by the IDF, head held high and smiling? That smile says, “You can’t break us.”
Noura Erakat carried that same defiance through her arrest in Florida, joining generations of Palestinian women who refuse to be broken.

Roger Waters reflects on advice from his mother that shaped his moral compass: read widely, educate yourself, and then do the right thing. For Waters, understanding the Nakba, the occupation, and what Palestinians are enduring today leads to a clear responsibility, to stand with the Palestinian people in their steadfast resistance and join Sumud.

“The Only Anesthesia Was a Song” What has happened to humanity that we all can’t agree that there’s no justification for Palestinian children, or any children, suffering the absolute cruelty and horror that this doctor describes (before a ceasefire and certainly not after one)? Or agree that our government and nation should not be complicit in it?
“Dr. Mark Perlmutter recounts amputating the leg of a five-year-old girl in Gaza with no anesthesia available beyond an anesthesiologist singing to her. She remained awake through the entire procedure. He describes an ER filled with children missing limbs and says he appealed to a U.S. senator to push President Trump to intervene and stop the bombing.” @sumudpod

Watch "Comfortably Numb Reimagined" on YouTube:
youtu.be/WBmrT3uqmeM?si=j11u…
Roger Waters describes how Mona Miari completely reimagined the ending of the song through Palestinian culture and a deeply moving lullaby about a mother and a martyr. For Mona ends with “Falastin” instead of “Palestine” because it was about truth, identity, and saying the name as it genuinely lives in Arabic.
