Writers - just a heads up
I was chatting to someone on here who I thought was a well known author (Jayne Anne Krentz)
Nothing seemed weird at first. We were literally just talking about our books, querying, agents and the general struggle of being a writer 😂
Then she offered to put me in contact with her agent because apparently the agent was open to fantasy submissions.
Obviously I got excited. Who wouldnt??
But then she sent me a random Gmail address and something just felt off. I did some digging and realised the person I was talking to was impersonating the author - and the “agent” she was referring me to wasn't actually the author's agent.
I've reported the account, but please be careful. These people know exactly what to say to writers who are querying
Check EVERYTHING before sending your work anywhere

As an agent, there are only so many clients I can rep and so many hours in the day. That doesn't mean your writing is bad. It's just one of the many flaws in the system.

Against the backdrop of tension and uncertainty in Afghanistan, Maryam describes her courtyard to Nadifa - the sparrows, her fruit trees and the call to prayer.

“Bliss in Moments Like These” is the third set of letters from ‘Letters Across The Mountains’, published in partnership with @WritersUntold, a development programme for writers structurally marginalised by community or conflict.
The three-part letter exchange between Nadifa and Maryam marks the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan and honours the resilience of Afghan women writers.
