This is what we’re up against trying to report on the CFB Wainwright tragedy. On October 18, I asked Environment Canada for the original wind-warning bulletins for the region, to make sure I hadn’t missed any and because several had since been archived online. I also asked for the timestamped XML files — or directions on how to access them myself. I wasn’t asking about the fire. I wasn’t asking for anything new. I was trying to retrieve historical weather warnings and records, most of which were already publicly available. This was their response. It took them two full working days to send this.

Photo: Adrian WYLD, La Presse Canadienne

I am in QP. We, Conservatives, just asked the government why they gave a $12,000,000 contract to an American company rather than the Canadian Commissionaires who had a similar bid. Minister Wayne Long just said, “we stand by this decision”. Unreal. Hire Canadians. Period.

Is it not odd that the CBC’s panel on Alberta independence had no Albertans on it? Perhaps they couldn’t be trusted to toe the Carney line.

The ballots are still being counted, but one thing is already clear: rebuilding public trust will take far more than a referendum result. Whatever your position on the referendum, the concerns that brought Albertans to this point deserve serious answers. Affordability. Safe communities. Functioning health care. Public services that actually serve the public. Public trust will not be restored by dismissing those concerns or insulting the people raising them. It starts with the willingness to have adult conversations, answer difficult questions and acknowledge where governments have failed. What does it mean to live in a free and open democracy if citizens are ridiculed for questioning the direction of their own country? What does a kind and inclusive society mean if that kindness and inclusion disappear the moment someone disagrees? You cannot claim those values while treating people who challenge you as though they do not belong. That is particularly true of so-called leaders who ask for our trust while showing so little respect for the citizens they serve. To everyone who asked questions, had difficult conversations and voted: keep participating. Democracy requires more than casting a ballot. It requires room to disagree, challenge the status quo and consider a different future. You want citizens to believe in this country? Give them reasons to. Answer their questions. Take their concerns seriously. Show them that the freedom, respect and inclusion you speak of extend to them, too. This should not be this difficult or controversial!

🚨ALERT: Foreign investors are buying Canadian businesses—firing Canadian workers—and replacing them with ILLEGAL foreign workers. And Ottawa is footing the bill with YOUR tax dollars. Now that Immigration Canada has scrapped the LMIA, the mass replacement of Canadians is about to go into overdrive—and fraud will become business as usual.

Bruce Pardy stood up and called it what it is: Canada has become a grift. Government has a say in everything—how you heat your home, whether you can build a pipeline, how much of your paycheque you keep, whether your grandchildren can ever leave the basement. Property feels less like something you own and more like something you’re allowed to keep as long as you keep paying the privilege. For Alberta that grift has a name and a history. My grandmother was four years old in Stettler when the Milch Cow cartoon showed the West feeding Ottawa while Ottawa milked the cow. She lived the Dirty Thirties and both wars. I lived the National Energy Program—rigs shut down, unemployment spiked, families counting coins. My grandchildren now live in the basement because housing is unaffordable and entry-level work is scarce while Ottawa keeps adding rules that make it harder for the province that actually produces to keep producing. Alberta receives zero equalization. Quebec receives $13.9 billion of the $27 billion pot this year. Fraser Institute numbers put Alberta’s net contribution to federal finances at roughly $322 billion from 2007 to 2027. Northern Gateway cancelled. Energy East killed in process. TMX bought for $4.5 billion and turned into a $34 billion taxpayer liability. Pacific Link remains a poster with oil maybe in the 2030s, public ownership, and carbon capture as the price of admission. No private capital will touch a new line under these rules. The federal government is broke, yet it keeps interfering—shifting goalposts, tanker bans that stay in place, regulatory layers that crush profitability, and an equalization formula that rewards provinces for not maximizing their own capacity while extracting from the ones that do. The Liberal government does not represent Alberta and never has. It represents the transfer that keeps the rest of the federation solvent and the regulatory power that decides how much of Alberta’s output is allowed to leave the ground. Generational families who built this province, paid the taxes, and shipped the oil, grain, and cheque are done being told that unity means accepting a one-way street. We are the doers and the workers. We notice when the grift lands hardest on the people who still produce. Whether today’s vote settles anything or not, this does not go away. Ottawa can keep milking the cow or it can stop treating Alberta’s families as the bank that pays the bill while others make the decisions. The coin-counting has already started.

Thoughts on Referendum Day 2026 1. I will see this Day as a hinge of history, not because I think any vote will be decisive. Rather, it will mark the last regional protest against the coming post-national order. 2. I think historians will look back and see the decadence of the aging retiree class, the incumbent political class, and the internationalist business class as forsaking their children in favor of their class being vindicated, secured and heeded. 3. I think that the collapse of the Conservative movement in Canada has been the most surprising thing to see in this campaign. Harper's endorsement of Carney, the federal Conservatives active campaigning for Liberal Prime Minister, and the "separatist" Premier Smith giving up all of her provincial leverage in order to get some paper promises, desperate for crumbs from the federal table. Smith's actions, and those of the federal Conservatives are viewed as a major betrayal of their western base. 4. The "uneven weights and measures" of the campaign have been vivid for anyone to notice. The Lukaszuk campaign against the independence choice, was permitted to continue without following any of the campaign rules for third party advertisers (TPA's). Meanwhile the small band of merry warriors on the Independence side were headshy with concern for audits and accounting for their TPA's. "Rules for thee, etc" 5. Never in my lifetime have I seen the full court press of media, all politicians, the courts, and conglomerate businesses to oppose the self-determination of a people in Canada. The co-ordination has been epic, with at times, shades of Mao. Meanwhile, Louis Riel is a hero, and Indigenous bands are "first nations". 6. I am dumbfounded by the lack of resistance, or even critical analysis of the Prime Minister's aim to have Canada join the European Union. It is by definition, a post-national decision, while the Prime Minister campaigns against Alberta self-determination on a platform of nationalism. Nationalism leading to Post-nationalism does not sound like fidelity to the citizens of the nation. 7. The exhaustion of civilization in the West is illustrated by the gasping (but unintelligible) grip on the nostalgia of stability, rather than the exertion needed to honestly grapple with doing something new. Arrogance in wanting control, but not wanting to lift a finger to help, echoes the indictment directed at the Pharisees by Jesus, 'They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger.'Mt 23.4. 8. A positive feature of this moment has been the willingness of many people to be stigmatized for desiring a better future on better terms. To fly the blue bore a public cost. To fly the nation-state flag cost nothing. Many made their choice on either side with thoughtful deliberation and they are to be respected. Others chose safety merely because the tall poppy will be cut down. This latter motive is not a good sign for society. 9. I have been deeply grieved to see professing "Christians" demoralize, stigmatize and shame simple Christians who want change for the better, believe in prayer, and want to offer a better life for their families. The fact that these simple Christians were shamed by the political class Conservatives (!) illustrates what Jesus said, "a person's enemies will be those of his own household."Mt 10:36. 10. I am just as confident in the vigor and victory of the kingdom of Christ today than I was yesterday, and I will have the same confidence tomorrow d.v."Jesus shall reign where'er the sun does its successive journeys run" (Watts)

It's striking that London where I've been for the last few days feels like India. It's overrun by low skilled Indians which leads me to believe the West is helping to solve India's massive youth unemployment problem. At my hotel, everyone on staff were newly arrived from India. Their English was often poor and the service wasn't great. The staff were shouting back and forth to each other in Hindi like you would in a chawl in India. A chawl is low cost housing and densely populated. All of this is coming to Canada. Can’t wait. 🤡

On the ground at the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre this afternoon with Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Safety Mike Ellis, Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services Adriana LaGrange and federal Minister of National Defence David McGuinty and Acute Care Alberta interim CEO Dr. Sayeh Zielke. We have just provided an update on the fire at CFB Wainwright. Four members of the Canadian Armed Forces have lost their lives in service to our country. Many more are injured and in recovery across our hospitals. Every part of the response is being coordinated, from first responders through to the hospitals treating the injured and the critical care teams working right now. Alberta stands with our Canadian Armed Forces and will provide whatever support is requested. To those recovering and to the families grieving today, all of Alberta is with you.

Elon Musk becomes deeply moved, and deadly serious, when Bret Baier asks him why he called Sen. Mark Kelly a "Traitor" for pushing to send more US aid and weapons to Ukraine. Watch every second of his response. "We should have empathy for the thousands of people dying everyday in the trenches. For no movement in the lines. For the past two years thousands of people have died every week for nothing." "I take great offense at those who put the appearance of goodness over the reality of it. Those who virtue signal and say we can't give into Russia, but have no solution to stopping thousands of kids dying every day." "I have contempt for such people and I want to make that clear. Because they're virtue signaling and their lack of a solution means that kids don't have a father. It means parents lost a son. For what? Nothing."

Emotional moment two women blinded under Islamic regimes meeting each other for the first time. Fahimeh is from Afghanistan. Her husband threw acid on her face because she was fighting for women's rights against the Taliban. As her face burned, he told her: now I have taken your eyes and your face, people will be scared of you, so I dare you to go out and talk to people. I invited her to come on stage with me and talk directly to thousands of people in Poland. She met Kosar, an Iranian woman who was blinded by the Islamic Republic during the Woman life Freedom uprising. We are now together stepping into Jewish history in Poland, including Auschwitz, and understanding the connection between the Holocaust and the Islamic Republic’s massacre on 2026. If any of you think it’s easy to live under Islamic republic or Taliban just listened to their stories. These women are not fighting for themselves. They are fighting to protect democracy everywhere from the most dangerous cancer, which is called Islamism.

Heavenly Father, Today, we place our beloved Alberta in your hands. Grant us the wisdom to recognize truth and the courage to defend our freedoms against those who would take them from us. May today’s vote bring Alberta one step closer to independence. Let us never surrender, never lose faith, and never give up our fight to free her. May our children and grandchildren one day enjoy the freedom we are determined to secure for them. Protect Alberta and her people, and guide us in the days ahead. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
