Companies are still making money on A100s (2020) which should be “obsolete” and fully depreciated by now. Such is demand.

And if you notice there are no garbage cans. People carry their trash to their destination. Extraordinary pro-social behavior

There are 2 boomers and 2 millennials for every Xer. No excuses just understand the scale of the task. It is more of a calculation how can we hold it together. We’ve never held power generationally and it does seem like it’s going to skip right over us at least in terms of the presidency. Boomers held presidency like 7+ terms.

These model companies will compete with every business and especially every business that can be built primarily using their AI which is probably the kind of business most startups are attempting. So do you really want to run all your R&D through them? Why? Well the model that this startup runs is good enough for 99% of software dev and other corporate agentic functions. And at API rates it’s 5% of the cost of Claude. Own the hardware and you get some additional advantages and savings. Frontier labs are like a bank with term mismatch. Their income is hot and can switch away but they are signing decades long contracts at the infrastructure layer. And they compete for these infrastructure assets with companies who don’t have to amortize model development. I just don’t see how they can avoid stepping into their customers business to try to grab cashflows. It’s like a powerful but broke central government. Adversarial.

Of course. I switched my platform to prefer an open weights model that was >90% cheaper for the same routine agentic work. Users couldn’t tell the diff. Tool calls. Long horizon stuff. Analysis. Etc. They all do this now. This level of machine cognition is a commodity.

How are the robots going to generate process heat? Robots don’t substitute for a coal boiler.

It’s hard but with God anything is possible.

There is partner of truth called beauty. A proof is more or less beautiful. More or less elegant. This beauty is transcendent. It suggests that whatever is in us that can perceive it, is part of what connects us to the divine. It is not clear that AI can deliver such. Yet.

Who thinks mathematicians get in to math to “help humanity?” Humanity has all the math it needs. They get into it because they are compelled by the beauty of eternal truth that exists outside space and time. I imagine slop math is annoying mostly.

Business of size will need C level exec to manage the AI workforce. There are few of these. If you can’t have this you will be on a platform. These will very customizable and comprehensive but owning a fully custom software asset even in the age of superintelligence has a maintenance cost measured in people-time.

We did this when they were little many time. Back and forth to asia. At times with two rented places. Now teenagers better to give them the place to call home.

Yeah be prepared for turbulence but the boom may be just getting started and the last thing you want to do is miss a parabola because you were clicking on too many doom posts. Stack gold and bitcoin when you book profits because eventually comes eventually.

Physical competence in something as simple as putting a ball (projectile) where you want it to go is a basic domain relevant skill and a decent way to rank men generally
