The @IFIFoundation was pleased to host members of the Odia Wikimedians User Group on the occasion of @wikidata’s 14th anniversary, celebrating the power of open knowledge, digital collaboration and multilingual access to information. The interaction brought together open-knowledge advocates, digital archivists and media professionals, to explore opportunities for collaboration in public health literacy, cultural heritage preservation, folklore documentation and structured open data. Launched on October 29, 2012, by the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikimedia Deutschland, Wikidata is a free, multilingual knowledge base connecting facts, people, places and languages worldwide. It offers Odisha an opportunity to amplify Odia-language knowledge, preserve cultural heritage and make the state’s healthcare and historical resources more discoverable globally.
