Daughter just passed her state psychologist licensing test last week. It was an online test, "supervised." Masters also in hand because it's required.
First job interview - offer is $3600/month for the first 6 months. She's expected to see 30 patients/wk. Lose 5% of those patients for any reason in that period and she's fired.
If she maintains, pay goes to $7500/month but she has to continue to "perform".
Her job here is not to help, but to foster dependence. If at any time she helps someone become self sufficient, she's risking her own livelihood.
This is the very definition of perverse incentives, and it is one of the clearest views of what we see so much of in medical field writ large that I've seen yet (and I've seen a lot).
Know this every time you talk to your therapist. You're nothing more than a paycheck to most of them. Especially if you're going through a clinic.
Most illegitimate medical field of all time
Won't completely write off "chemical imbalance" as a factor, but the way the go about treating it is garbage
You don't have a Xanax or an amphetamine deficiency
You're not lacking endogenous quetiapine
Some of the chemslop might be useful for stabilizing someone in a real crisis
But that's not happening when someone's seeing a psych monthly
They're getting fucked up longterm
They're getting numbed out
The anxiety or depression or whatever that's functioning as a signal for biological, spiritual, and mindset problems you need to address gets dulled, and therefore NEVER solved
It's the exact thing as drinking or doing rec drugs for that reason
You live the rest of your life as a lower consciousness shell of your former self and they tell you this is good
And the sad thing is most of them are brainwashed to think it is a good thing

A history teacher once told me the Pilgrims invented Thanksgiving.
I asked her about George Washington's 1789 proclamation.
She had no idea what I was talking about.
October 3, 1789.
The Constitution is barely ratified. Congress asks the President to declare a national day of thanks.
Washington doesn't suggest it. He commands it.
"It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for His benefits."
Duty. Not option.
He called Americans to "sincere and humble thanks" for winning the Revolution. For the Constitution. For religious liberty.
Then he told them to pray.
To "beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions."
The Father of our Country. Publicly confessing national sin. Calling a nation to its knees.
The Pilgrims weren't even mentioned.
That story came later. Sanitized. Secularized. Safe for public schools.
The real first Thanksgiving was a President declaring that gratitude to God was the price of being American.
They don't teach that anymore...

I have a thought. How about everyone take care of themselves and their families and not rely on the government

Still, people don't entirely realize what has happened. The party now in control of the US executive branch is a third party built out of the corpses of two prevailing parties.
It goes by the name Republican but that is nearly a historical accident. Nearly all the top people are refugees from the Democrat Party and were never welcomed and even hated by the legacy establishment of the Republicans.
So far, there is every indication of the intention: to dismantle government as we've known it for a century or more. I consider that a good thing in general.

The media and Dems say that everything Trump identifies as a problem doesn’t exist and is just a conspiracy theory. They’re such knee-jerk partisans they can’t help but to further demolish their credibility. Just 31% of the public trusts them and the number could decline further
