Chelsea under Xabi Alonso is barely 3 months old and people are already want to compare it to a project that has had nearly 6 years to develop. Of course we can criticise Chelsea. The defending hasn’t always been good enough. The consistency isn’t there yet. There are things Alonso needs to fix. But let’s also have some perspective. This is a new manager, new ideas, players learning new positions, new players trying to settle in and a team still figuring out how to play together. Then you turn around and compare Chelsea to a project that has had years to build its identity, recruit for its system, develop chemistry and understand exactly what the manager wants. How is that a fair comparison? Hold Alonso to a high standard. Absolutely. Demand better Of course. But don’t judge a three-month-old project like it’s supposed to look like a seven-year-old one already. Three months vs seven years. Let Alonso actually build before we start writing the obituary. #CFC
