I'm sorry but it's true.
I wish it wasn't true.
I wish you could do ab crunches and excess stomach fat would do away.
But that's not how it works.

There isn't some magic motivation sauce that you're missing out on.
It doesn't exist.
You're probably missing a system to accomplish what you want.
But don't look of motivation. Even if you have it for awhile it will fade.

5 things I would do differently if I was restarting my former athlete fitness journey - meaning the fitness journey I had to start once I was done playing in the NFL.
1. Lifting protects my joints, it doesn't hurt them. Including deadlifts!
2. Just because it's on the schedule doesn't mean you need to do it. If your back isn't feeling right, don't do the deadlifts that day.
3. Everything counts. Just because you can't get to the gym doesn't mean you can't get some intentional movement in and make gains in your health and fitness.
4. Warm up and cool down are essential. Used to not matter as much, but the older I get, it's a must.
5. A bad week doesn't make a bad month. Get back at it, you're going to have busy weeks, especially as a dad. Move on and get it the next day.

Any coaches out there that can relate?
Based on true events, but I never actually threw the binder (even though I wanted to).
New series I'm starting this fall: Tales from a 3rd/4th grade huddle
Plenty more where this came from.
