Notes from #SMX Advanced
Ranking helps, but it does not explain AI citations.
A #1 Google ranking is not a receipt for AI visibility.
In one benchmark, position 1 earned an AI citation 37% of the time.
Rankings still matter. They just do not get to be the whole plan.

Q: “How do you decide the right balance between automation and control for a new account?”

What is the value of a website?
@VeryWellVersed believes people will still go to websites for “funsies.” Agents will proactively get info people want from websites and give it to you in format you want.

What an amazing week in Boston. #smx Advanced @smx, you really outdid yourself.
15 years in the industry, first time speaking at a national search conference, and I'm still buzzing from it.
Getting to be part of the keynote was something I'll never forget. But the best part wasn't the stage. It was the people.
• To everyone who organized this event, thank you for running something so seamless and so welcoming.
• To the speakers I got to learn from and trade ideas with, you raised my game.
• And to everyone whom I spoke with to share a thought, ask a question, or just say hello, those conversations meant more than you know.
This industry is full of brilliant, generous people, which is why I love being part of it.
Already looking forward to what's next.

Teams are asking the wrong questions. The right questions?
How are we controlling the information AI uses?
Are we giving AI the right data about us?

Websites heavily dependent on JS can have a split viability issue.. while the site may rank first on Google, it might be invisible to AI platforms.

Packed room at SMX Advanced for @aleyda's session on the future of Google Search.
Key takeaway: Search isn’t just becoming more AI-driven, it’s also becoming more monetized. AI Overviews, SERP features, and ads are reshaping visibility, clicks, and organic strategy. #SMXAdvanced
