Most founders can build. Far fewer get paid. Thursday we're asking two who did Socialpay and @MarzPay how they found their first paying customers here in Uganda. What worked. What didn't. How long it actually took. Thu 22 Oct · 7PM EAT xitter.cf/i/spaces/1DxleVavZadKL – at Kampala, Uganda

15.09.2026 Orientation for the new Victoria University chapter leadership took place at the Secretariat today. Leading the session, the Secretary-General urged the incoming leaders to prepare themselves for the journey of volunteership ahead. His message was clear: volunteering rewards those who are intentional and eager to learn. Approach it with the right mindset, and networks and opportunities will follow. We wish them a great tenure!

A big shout-out to @Africastalking for continuing to support the @ATWomenInTech Kampala community and creating spaces where we can learn, connect, share knowledge and grow together. 💙 The September Meetup gave us an opportunity to learn from Jennifer Mwayi’s 10+ years of experience in event management — from planning and logistics to managing people, adapting when things go wrong and turning events into memorable experiences. Thank you @Africastalking for the continued support towards tech community activities and for investing in spaces that bring people together. #BuildWithAT #WomenInTech #WeLoveNerds | @m_k_global

There is a difference between organising an event and creating an experience. Jennifer Mwayi's presentation was a reminder that an event shouldn't be judged only by whether the programme went according to plan. The real question is: What did people feel? What will they remember? Because people may forget individual moments from an event, but they are likely to remember how the experience made them feel. For Event Managers, the goal isn't simply to make the programme happen. It's to create an experience worth remembering. #BuildWithAT #WIT #WomenInTech

Events are built by People, not just Plans. Jennifer Mwayi reminded us that event management is also about managing relationships. An event brings together clients, event teams, suppliers, venues, speakers, performers and guests — all with different expectations and responsibilities. Her communication cycle was simple but powerful: Listen → Clarify → Communicate → Confirm → Follow Up. Strong communication helps prevent misunderstandings, keeps teams aligned and ensures everyone knows what is expected. Because ultimately, a good Event Manager doesn't just manage tasks. They manage relationships. #BuildWithAT #ATWIT #WomenInTech

Great events don't happen by accident. They are designed. During the @ATWomenInTech Kampala Meetup, Jennifer Mwayi shared one of the most important lessons from her 10+ years in event management: Planning is a superpower. Before jumping into execution, an Event Managers should understand the event’s purpose, audience, goals, timeline, process, and budget before execution. Planning isn't simply creating a checklist. It's creating clarity, anticipating challenges and giving the team confidence to execute. As Jennifer put it: “Plan the event you want. Then plan for the event you don't want.”
