Exactly this. Selections; followed by words that keep detainees trusting; and then systematic, deliberate beatings as each detainee enters the transport. See the report to understand what I mean by "selections" and "keep detainees trusting"). (thenewsminute.com/news/journ…).
Detention centres remind me of the Nazi times. There should be Nuremberg trials in India: Protester

If the state moved this fast to work for actual important basics like functional infrastructure, welfare & fundamental rights, we'd be a real super power. Instead, it goes on war footing against rightfully furious citizens. Travesty of a democracy, this.

Away from Delhi: in Arunachal citizens are being picked up under draconian laws merely for trying to protect their lands and livelihoods. Whatever we allow to happen to our citizens at the country's peripheries comes to haunt it's heartland. What Delhi witnesses today is a mirror of what has happened for decades to the marginal lands of India's politics.
Four people opposed to the pre-feasibility study of Siang Upper Multipurpose Project are missing: Adum Tayom, Omak Paron, Okut Paloh, and Oson Paron. Police isn’t saying anything but they are suspected to be in police custody. All this is happening under the direction of Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Guess who the DGP is? IPS officer Jamwal, known for his atrocities and violent policing in Ladakh. They make a good team, but they will soon lose the plot with their violent tactics. Remember, the protest against this mega hydro project has been going on for four decades. The central and state govt has no idea who they are up against. #SUMP

Scenes near Jantar Mantar this morning. Incredibly heavy police presence blocking any entry point to the protest site, and protestors who make it close are being detained. Incredible India indeed.

At least 23 lawyers detained outside Sup Ct, as they were gathering to join the protest. They have been violently pushed into covered police van, by cops without nameplates, and are being taken to an undisclosed location. @SauravDassss #votechoriexposed

Travelled out from Delhi to see if bus movement into Delhi is normal. Short answer: It isn't. See this thread.
Just how far outside Delhi is movement being restricted ahead of today's protest? Thread ⬇️ This morning, @mrajshekhar travelled from Delhi to Palwal and beyond, up to the KMP highway, where traffic from Mathura and elsewhere branches towards Manesar, Greater Noida and Delhi. Jantar Mantar is still about 75 km away. Between 7.30 am and 9.30 am, he spotted a grand total of THREE buses heading towards Delhi.

Practically no actual protestor has been allowed near Jantar Mantar. It’s almost entirely full of just journalists and YouTubers.

The recently appointed Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to release the 18 students detained in Itarsi. They are free to go to Delhi for the Oct 10 all-student organisation protest. But how can they, with train services shut down?
