In 1921 he wanted to replace gold with an “energy currency.” Thomas Edison backed the idea and pitched money tied to the power of a dam in Alabama. Now Elon Musk says currency will end up measured in wattage. A century apart, they landed in the same place. Bitcoin already works this way: every unit is paid for with energy through proof-of-work, and the network secures more than $1.5 trillion of monetary value. Calling it backed by nothing just means you haven’t done your research.

Forget flying cars for a second. Elon said “money becomes irrelevant” and currency will end up measured in wattage. Every Bitcoin ever mined cost real energy. Nobody can print more bitcoin:native . Pretty sure it's the money he’s describing.
