It has been a relatively mild winter thus far, meaning we have been able to get plenty of lime mortar work completed, such as this repair project in Tipton.
Out in the glorious sunshine inspecting work at on the roof at Weston Hall this afternoon. Moisture levels on new lime mortar need to be managed carefully in this weather. #heritage #architecture #historicbuilding #conservation #staffordshire
It's sad to see emergency works that involve such an impact on the character of a building. This former pub in #stokeontrent obviously had some issues with detachment of the render but unfortunately the decision was taken to remove it completely. – at Newcastle-under-Lyme, England
Indulging my love of industrial heritage with a fantastic day at the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, hosted by @RIBA and @HistoricEngland. A real 'world first' of a building near the cradle of the industrial revolution. #industrial #heritage #conservation #architecture #shrewsbury – at Newcastle-under-Lyme, England
Today's survey and a delightfully intact example of Festival style Modernism. #midcenturymodern #1960s #architecture #survey

Chetwynd, Clarice Cliff's House in Clayton - inconveniently located outside the Stoke-on-Trent boundaries - the city that made her famous.
Replying to @WormwoodStubbs
This is Chetwynd where Clarice Cliff lived after she married. Built 1899, it should be listed as an example of an Arts and Crafts house. It is in a safe pair of hands at present.

Surveying a Victorian potbank today - some fantastic spaces crammed literally to the rafters with old moulds.
Ceramic tiling brings character and expression to architecture. Commonplace in Victorian and Edwardian houses, would love to see more in modern residential buildings.
I have just seen this #mintonHollins tile cladded building in York – at York, England

The weather behaved itself for a condition survey of this small church in the Staffordshire Moorlands this morning. Quick visit to Froghall limekilns on the way back #heritage #listedbuilding #staffordshire #lime
Church survey today and suspected rust jacking at the top of the spire. Recommendation of detailed steeplejack's survey, Lidar and Ferroscan.

This is a really pitiful before and after. I featured this Frazer Crane house in Greater Manchester (pictured here) in 2011. The first link is what it was, the second link is the listing now.
