As of this week, U.S. travelers need to apply for authorization to enter the United Kingdom.
I went through this process myself to figure out what's the best way (app vs. website), how long it takes, and which credit card to use.
Here's my report:

If you're on Bluesky, please find me there or tag me here so I can find you!

As much as I once loved Twitter, I very much do not love X. It's time for me to move on.
Anyone else wake up at 3am starving and wide awake?
No, just me?
I think this is the first time I've had a delayed reaction to jetlag.
Also now that I visited Turkmenistan, I can take my profile off private again!*
*Hiding my "internet presence" (hard to do with published bylines....) was a strong recommendation for getting a visa. But it worked!
I am currently 80 miles from the city of Batman, Türkiye and am kicking myself for not arranging my plans so I could fly in or out of Batman airport (BAL, service to Istanbul & Ankara).
Pulled up an old blog article to help a friend today. Re-read it, had happy memories and miss my storytelling hobby.
Should I restart? I leave home on Sunday, so I have the perfect excuse to get back in the swing of things.

100% did not realize my Global Entry had expired until I checked in for a flight tomorrow and the Precheck didn't show on my boarding pass. Oops. Now to cross fingers my renewal is approved without a follow-up interview.
Friends, 4pm just came and went without me cancelling my flight within its 24-hour period, so safe to announce my next trip now that I'm financially committed (eek!):
- Turkmenistan
- Uzbekistan
- Turkey (SE Anatolia)
How do you get over the guilt of leaving your pet at home while you travel even when you know they are well cared for/spoiled/loved by a great sitter?
I hate Facebook but appreciate that this memory popped up for me today.
For the record, it was indeed a lovely trip.
We started packing a "Wyoming box" with car repair/self rescue supplies after having to change two tires on other trips. And today marks three. WE SHOULD HAVE FLOWN. Y'all be careful if you head there. I swear there are more services in Alaska.
I have sizable stashes of airline miles but somehow I let my husband talk me into road tripping home along this scenic drive instead of flying. 850 miles today. 🙄 So....who knows any good jokes?
Spent the day in Two Medicine, Glacier National Park, and it was good medicine for the soul. Sad for this week to come to a close. Spectacular trip.

Good day to make hotel reservations: 8% back with @Rakuten and @bookingcom !
Tonight my husband swore to me that there's a Lufthansa flight from Belgrade to Denver. 👀
"No way," I said.
Well... LH 7461, which is actually UA 543, flies BZN-DEN. And Bozeman airport is technically located in Belgrade, MT.
Does he win on a technicality?
