I didn’t know Artem but I’ve had a few friends commit suicide.
My initial reaction for years was anger. I viewed it as the ultimate selfish act. Or cowardly. Boy was I wrong.
It took a lot of dealing with humans - and bouts of my own depression - to understand that’s not how the person dealing with suicidal thoughts sees it at all.
In their minds, at the depth of their despair, the feel they’re departure will UNburden their loved ones.
It seems to them that everyone’s problems will go away once they do.
They feel their presence is anchor on everyone and those around them can finally be free “once I’m gone”.
Even the concern we show them can feel like a weight “I’ll go so you can finally stop worrying about me”
Of course this is completely backwards to those looking on, and it should not stop us from helping.
But for me, as a non expert!, I think one of the best thing we can do is empathize and then emphasize that you are NOT a burden.
ALL your problems are solvable but only if you are HERE. Your friends and family love you and want to help you - but you have stay here with us for us to do that!
It is one of life’s greatest gifts to help people come back from the brink, so PLEASE, if you’re struggling give that gift to someone.
Let them help you.
Aww, the kids are sharing their Halloween candy. Little do they know that while they’re at school it’s ALL my candy.
NASCAR in Chicago is a good thing that should become an annual event.
World class cities should host world class events.
Anything that shows off the Chicago skyline from Grant Park is a net-win for the city.
Watching SVB collapse reminds me of my small farm town bank failing in the 80’s. Paper on the windows. Dark suits. Open Monday morning under a new name.
Kind of scary how fast this AI stuff is progressing. catgpt.wvd.io/
Are there any Google My Business experts out there who specialize in cleaning up listings for a global company with 40+ locations?
Prefer someone who does this all day long for big companies.
