This is good news. It hadn’t been entirely clear how long immunity lasted with the Shingrix vaccine.
The SHINGLES vaccine remained nearly 90% effective after 11 YEARS …a 💉milestone

I am working on multiple H5N1 projects & thus have a higher risk of exposure than the public. I am not STOCKPILING antivirals, nor will I do so. It’s unethical & selfish to hoard medications needed by others or to select for drug-resistant variants by taking them off-label.

I haven’t tweeted (X’d?) in a long time, but the fourth quarter of the Nuggets-Lakers game last night was one of the best NBA quarters I’ve seen.

A really important thread on the #H5N1 #birdflu outbreak in cows. Well worth a read.
Very important to note here that qPCR positives are not the same as "virus particles." It's much easier to detect viral RNA by qPCR than it is to detect infectious virus or intact virus particles (as the article correctly notes). This finding does have some big implications:

This is called an Omega sunset It looks like the Greek letter Omega (Ω) due to sunlight refracting through warm air just above the water. The “feet” of the Ω are just inverted images of the parts of the Sun directly above them. The inverted part of the image, below the fold line, is an inferior mirage, named so because it appears below the "real" sun. This mirage occurs due to refraction caused by a layer of warmer and less dense air near the ocean's surface. [📸 Juan Antonio Sendra]
