I classed myself as someone who was informed about child poverty. And then I read this book; discussing it chapter by chapter with a group of wise and experienced practitioners. I quickly realised that I have so much more to learn.#ChallengePovertyWeek @MoragTreanor

Leos-Urbel et al. (2013, p.91) found that the universal provision of free breakfasts significantly improved attendance within schools and children’s academic achievements. Day 4 of #ChallengePovertyWeek we hear from some pupils who eat a free breakfast at school everyday.
Day 4 - S1 learners from Charleston Academy in Inverness who used the free breakfast for all were asked their opinions on this. Learner participation is essential for all of us to learn.

Yesterday the #bbc reported that 1/10 Scots live in "very deep poverty". We need to think about the implications this has for young people in school - for their wellbeing and their learning. #ChallengePovertyWeek @CPAGScotland
Day 2 - Our partners at @CPAGScotland @CPAGUK have a suite of fantastic resources to support settings with Cost of the School Day. The e-learning module supports professional learning about child poverty & equity in education.
