A sad day for Canada. Over the weekend, four Canadian soldiers lost their lives at CFB Wainwright in Alberta, with dozens more injured. They were wearing our uniform, training to serve our country. There are obviously serious questions that need to be answered about how this tragedy happened — including why training continued with a fire reportedly about a kilometre away. I’m sure those answers will come through the investigation, and today probably isn’t the day to speculate beyond that. But there is something particularly poignant about what is happening at the same time. Without trying to politicize a horrible tragedy: these soldiers died serving Canada in Alberta — while Albertans are being asked to contemplate a future in which Alberta may no longer be part of Canada. I understand that many Albertans have real grievances with Ottawa. Some of them have been ignored or dismissed for far too long. A strong country should be able to acknowledge that. But I hope my friends in Alberta remember something equally important: Without Alberta, there is no Canada as we know it. And without Canada, there is no Alberta as we know it either. Our histories, families, economies, institutions and sacrifices are far more intertwined than our politics sometimes makes them seem. Four Canadians died in Alberta this weekend wearing the same flag that belongs to every one of us. Maybe, in a moment of enormous sadness, that is worth remembering. Canada is better with Alberta. And Alberta is better with Canada. Rest in Power to: Sgt. Morgan Wong – From Edmonton, Alberta Pte. Shaun Farrell – From Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Pte. Aidan Goulding – From North Vancouver, British Columbia. Pte. Hayden Lykkemark – From Langley, British Columbia. Lest we forget. ctvnews.ca/edmonton/article/…

It's incredible to me how dumb some of our politicians are. All of the top 10 airports around the world are either government owned or owned by a government corporation. All the nice airports in Asia and the Middle East are also owned by the government.
Fantastic news! This will draw $ billions of investment in to our major airports, while radically improving the passenger experience. Just visit some of the major airports in Asia and the Middle East to imagine what is now possible here in Canada!

🚨BREAKING🚨 Carney holds private call with Liberal MPs to announce he is selling Canadian airports, including Pearson, to private for-profit corporations. In Australia and Greece where airports were sold—ticket prices went up, service went down and workers were laid off as corporations maximized profits. #cdnpoli #onpoli theglobeandmail.com/politics…

In failing to stand up for the ICC, Canada is failing to stand up for itself. It also risks continuing to, as Mr. Carney denounced in his Davos speech, engage in the “performance of sovereignty while accepting subordination.” My latest in the @GlobeDebate theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

Advocate for Palestinians outside the workplace, and you’re labeled unprofessional and accused of disrupting the workplace. Advocate for Israel, amid an ongoing genocide, it’s deemed unrelated to work. That differential treatment is anti-Palestinian racism. thestar.com/news/investigati…

Watching the right eat itself over Chris Alexander in the coming weeks is going to be fun. My take: He's not serious about running for Mayor and is in all likelihood waiting to be bought off by one of Bradford's donors like Michael Ford. #TOpoli

I've been fortunate enough to attend World Cup matches in both Toronto & Vancouver over the last 4 weeks alongside some of our clients (and potential clients 😉). After initially not being too keen on Canada co-hosting — I am glad we did. Toronto and Vancouver both did a fantastic job showcasing our beautiful country and each venue had its own unique flair. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers for delivering a safe, joyful, and unforgettable experience. And most of all — to Canada's Men's National Team for reminding us to be proud of who we are as Canadians. FIFA is a corrupt cartel. But the game is still beautiful. (Side note: Colombian fans are amazing) #worldcup #worldcup2026 #fifaworldcup #colombia #switzerland #yvr

This guy is growing on me. Right message...but I think it will end up being the wrong messenger. Videos are a bit cringey but he's also new to this. I'm still highly skeptical of where he's come from and who's actually pulling the strings behind the scenes but if he can stop shitting on immigrants to attract right of center voters and fix the optics a bit...might end up being a contender.
I do not think we are taking the decline of our liberal democracy seriously enough. It has become both a political culture problem and an institutional one. It’s also why I support electoral reform (read below👇). - - - Voter turnout is abysmal because many people feel their votes do not matter. And in many ridings, they are right. Over the last 30 years, power has become concentrated in the Premiers Office (and yes, the PMO federally). Ministers have less independence. MPPs and MPs have less legislative influence. More decisions are filtered through central political staff. (When power is concentrated and discretionary in this way, it also opens the door to corrupt behaviour as we have seen) Social media has changed the incentives of politics too. Too often, parties are rewarded for producing moments instead of solving problems. When every issue can become a communications opportunity, more decisions get pulled into the centre to be managed. It also encourages more sounds-bites and vague-hoods. Because nuanced thinking doesn’t perform well. So it’s not valued by the algorithms or the media. And so we no longer get real debates. We no longer respect those we disagree with. If nuance is dead, our democracy is an illusion. Too few in politics get this, but I do. - - - So, if elected Premier, I will be deliberate in humbling my own power for the long term good of our democracy. That starts with three reforms. 1) Electoral reform toward a proportional voting system. Every vote should matter, and everyone deserves responsive local representation. Your vote as a rural liberal should matter. Your vote as an urban conservative should, too. 2) A smaller cabinet with fewer ministers (Eg 15), but greater authority, profile, independence, and accountability. There should be many competitive political figures in a party, not just the leader. This also aligns with stronger institutions with more state capacity. 3) A greater role for MPPs, including opposition members, in the legislative process. It would also make the job more attractive because many MPPs want to do real work, but get hamstrung. Ontario does not need more days, weeks, and months of whatever. - - - There seem to be a lot of people who fail to understand what I’m doing, and why. I am not running for Ontario Liberal Leader for the party to stay stuck in the 2010s. I am asking Liberals and Ontarians to choose a different path. I am tired of lowest-common-denominator politics. I’m tired of all the dumb and division. And I bet most people in Ontario are too.

Some of those who were against cancel culture were genuinely against cancellation. The rest just wanted to cancel different people.

Finally someone rational in the race. Pros: Seems like a good guy with a good story and a good head on his shoulders. People seem to genuinely like him in caucus and doesn't seem to have much baggage (TBD). Cons: Career politician. But that is a personal preference of mine that someone should have non-nepo baby related life experience outside of public service.
Today, I officially launched my campaign to become the next leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. Ontario families are working harder than ever and getting less for it. We need a government focused on affordability, healthcare, education, and opportunity again. Let’s build Ontario.  Join us: joinrob.ca #onpoli

Insanity.
1/ Right now, a bill called C-22 is moving through Parliament. It would let police pull information on who you talk to, when, and where, all without a warrant. It's at committee this week. 🧵

Like I said. NES's team did the same stuff they're accusing Hafiz's team of doing. They only had a problem with it once they lost.

“We conclude that Mr. Erskine-Smith’s scrutineers did not take issue with the comings and goings of the nomination meeting while it was underway, and did not decide to complain about it until after the meeting had ended and the outcome was known.”
