A Good Friday reflection from @AmberCHaines.
"Forgiveness didn't keep Jesus from being hurt. It didn't keep him from dying. But it did make a way for him to rise again." @AmberCHaines @sethhaines The Deep Down Things

I’m not on social media much these days, but I had to stop by and share this thing I did with @chnetwork. It was a good time with some great people.
Tonight at 8ET, catch an all-new episode of The Journey Home!
@sethhaines shares the powerful story of how he and his family ended up in the Catholic Church... #JHprogram

In this book, we wrote about the priest whose abuse threatened hope. He played in the realm of ideas without regard to how those ideas affected the bodies in his congregation (including Amber’s).
Disembodied ideas are crap ideas. That’s why we believe hope is more than an idea.
"We do not believe that hope is some ethereal thing floating out there in the great beyond. Hope is a thing that is here and now, and it requires some participation."

A truce: from politics, opinion, religious wrangling, office, gym extremes. Moderate impulses, knee jerks. Enjoy the gifts and pray for those with less; pray for those with more, too. Pray for the turkeys who gave their lives; eat a turkey leg and smile. Happy Thanksgiving.

Today I read of the allegations against IHOPKC’s founder. The leaders who investigated the allegations said, “the women who came forward ‘had nothing to gain by sharing their experience except the pursuit of truth, repentance, mercy, and grace.’”

women’s stories are dismissed. Women are doubted, questioned, called crazy to have interpreted certain comments as sexual in nature.
That was Amber’s experience & though the church/diocese later came back and said “we missed it” it was years after the trauma. It was too late.
