I wanna share all my startup experience, one topic at a time,
Today it's ---SEO---
In the past years, I generated over 1B impressions and 1M clicks from SEO.
Everything I've done:
π Domain names
β³ Use: .com, .org, .dev, .ai, .io
β³ Use keyword-like naming, e.g. osssoftware dot org
β³ Max 14 letters in a domain name
β³ No β-β or β_β
β³ One topic per domain when possible
β³ Pick www or non-www and stick to that one version (one redirects to another one)
π Tech SEO
β³ Make sure the page renders HTML when bots make requests
β³ One way to check it:
ββ³ Drop your URL into Claude
ββ³ Ask if itβs doing everything right for tech SEO
β³ There are many more details, but really, Claude or Codex will lay it all down for you if you show it your website
β³ HTTPS on
β³ Mobile-friendly
β³ Fast enough that it doesnβt feel broken
ββ³ PageSpeed Insights is enough
ββ³ Open GSC web-vitals and if it's green then all good
β³ Short, stable URLs
ββ³ Url slug should match the meta title and h1
ββ³ No random strings
β³ One H1 per page
β³ Unique title + unique meta per page
β³ Image alt text on anything that matters
β³ Canonical URL on every indexable page that has no query string in it
β³ Fix 404s and redirect chains
β³ No orphan pages
ββ³ Every important URL should have at least one internal link pointing to it (seogets shows all such pages)
π Indexing
β³ Add sitemap.xml to Google Search Console
β³ See if all the pages are indexed
ββ³ If not, run @indexrusher
β³ Do the same for Bing and Yandex via indexrusher
β³ robots.txt should be there and allow your public pages, again, ask chatgpt to check your robots.txt
β³ Request indexing in GSC for new pages or run indexrusher to automate this
β³ Check Coverage / Pages reports
ββ³ Fix βcrawled β currently not indexedβ on pages that should rank
ββ³ Donβt waste crawl budget (don't create too many pages, too many folders, tags, groupss...at least right away, you better do it later once the first bulk is indexed)
π Analytics
β³ Google Search Console
β³ Ahrefs small plan
β³ @seogets + @DataFast_
β³ Once a week, look at:
ββ³ Queries with impressions but few clicks (take the queries pointing to these pages and embed them into h1 and meta title)
ββ³ Pages that used to get clicks and then decayed (update the content here)
π Low hanging fruit
β³ Pages already in positions 8β20
ββ³ Those are closer to page 1 than any new article
ββ³ Add the exact query(if makes sense) to H1 / title / H2
ββ³ Add one missing section the current top results have
β³ Queries with lots of impressions and almost no clicks
ββ³ Rewrite title + meta, keep the keyword
β³ Old pages that already get a little traffic
ββ³ Update them before writing a new one (google kinda loves to see pages being regularly updated)
β³ Pages Google knows but didnβt index
ββ³ Request indexing manually page by page, or run @indexrusher (if it doesn't help, remove them, cuz google wont index them ever)
β³ Thin pages fighting each other for the same query
ββ³ Keep the stronger URL
ββ³ Merge or 301 the weaker one
π Quick 5min SEO hacks
β³ Paste a URL into GSC β URL Inspection β Request indexing
β³ Put the target keyword in the first 60 characters of the title
β³ Add the main query into the H1 if itβs missing
β³ Add 2 internal links from old posts to the page I want to push
β³ Add alt text to the first image on the page
β³ Add a 3-question FAQ at the bottom using GSC queries
β³ Submit / resubmit sitemap.xml in GSC
β³ Search site:mydomain and see if the pages are indexed and how they look like
β³ Google my brand + product keyword
ββ³ If a page mentions me with no link, ask them to add one
β³ Ask ChatGPT βbest tool for [keyword]β
ββ³ Open the cited URLs
ββ³ Email those authors the same day (offer them either money or a link exchange)
β³ Post the article URL on X / LinkedIn / Reddit with the keyword in the first line
β³ Drop the URL into Claude: βwhat 5 on-page fixes can I do in 5 minutes?β
π Blog
β³ Write 1 good blog post a week
ββ³ Do it manually with some AI assistance
ββ³ Focus on the most promising keywords where you already rank high
β³ Use @seobotai to generate more blog articles
ββ³ See if some of them get traction
ββ³ Manually turn the promising ones from AI-generated into high-quality human-made articles
β³ Before writing, search Google for the keyword
ββ³ Match the format that already ranks
ββ³ Answer the question better than the current top 5
β³ Put original stuff in the article
ββ³ Screenshots
ββ³ My own numbers
ββ³ What I actually tried (basically ensure google that this article comes from a human's own experience)
β³ Refresh old posts that already get impressions
ββ³ Update the date only if the content actually changed (avoid hacks here, do real updates)
β³ Useful page types on top of the weekly post:
ββ³ βbest Xβ
ββ³ βX vs Yβ
ββ³ βX alternativesβ
ββ³ βhow toβ for the exact job my product does
π Backlinks
β³ Ask ChatGPT: βWhatβs the best tool for...β
ββ³ See the URLs it used to form the response
ββ³ Reach out to all those authors
ββ³ Ask them to include my URL in exchange for money or a backlink from you
β³ Do the same in Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini and Grok
β³ Search Google for your keywords
ββ³ Find the pages that already rank
ββ³ Do the same as above
β³ List on as many directories as possible using @listingbott
β³ Link all my pages across all my websites when possible
β³ Do internal linking on each site too
ββ³ Between blog articles
ββ³ Between pages
β³ Extra places that still work:
ββ³ Guest posts on sites that already rank for my keywords
ββ³ βbest toolsβ roundups
ββ³ Unlinked brand mentions
βββ³ Search Google for my brand name
βββ³ Ask them to turn the mention into a link
β³ When I link out or guest post, I want the page to have:
ββ³ Real traffic
ββ³ A topic close to mine
ββ³ A link that looks natural on the page (avoid spam at all cost)
π Social media SEO
β³ Social media gets indexed instantly
ββ³ Reddit
ββ³ X
ββ³ Substack
ββ³ LinkedIn
β³ Monitor hot, growing keywords and trends
ββ³ Google Trends
ββ³ Radar on X
β³ Produce posts around those trends
ββ³ Place some of the product links inside
β³ Find relevant social media posts via Google Search
ββ³ Plug my product into the comments when it brings some value
ββ³ No spam
β³ Put the keyword in the first line of the post
β³ Turn each good blog post into (and link back to the original url with a backlinks, cuz social media backlinks in my experience have really high weight for google):
ββ³ 1 X thread
ββ³ 1 LinkedIn post
ββ³ 1 Reddit answer where it actually helps
β³ Reply under bigger posts in my niche
ββ³ Useful reply first
ββ³ Link only if it adds something
π AI search
β³ Same game as SEO
β³ Ask ChatGPT / Claude / Perplexity / Gemini:
ββ³ βWhatβs the best tool for [my keyword]?β
ββ³ βBest alternatives to [competitor]β
ββ³ See if they mention me
ββ³ If not, look at who they mentioned and get onto those same pages by paying them or doing a link exchange
---
That's it for now.
I'll share the next topic in my next tweet. What should it be?
Also, i put it all in great details into my Founder Guide: guide.johnrush.me/

In an endless sea of crappy vibe-coded SEO tools there is @seogets
Such a great tool that saves SEOs real time in their day-to-day that is also agent-foward in its development.
A good example of a SaaS built by someone with good 'taste'. Keep it up!!!!

The deadline is approaching to enter the 2026 #USSearchAwards - and since @seogets isn't entering, you might have a chance in the "Best SEO Tool" category ussearchawards.com/

Amazing to see that one of my favorite SEO tools, @seogets, now has a free tier again⦠yes, you can use it for free.
SEO Gets has quickly become my day-to-day tool for easily analyzing GSC/GA4 trends with π₯ features like:
* Content group / topic cluster performance
* Identifying growing or decaying topics, queries, and pages in a click
* Combined indexing reporting along with clicks / impressions data
* β¦ and more!
I had the awesome chance to meet the awesome @MattMelli last month in Boston at the #SEOFOMO meetup, where he invited me to become one of the new ambassadors for the tool: providing feedback and helping promote its π₯ features.
And I instantly said yesβ¦ because itβs so good. And now also available for free.

A new π₯ release from @screamingfrog with v24.0, including their official MCP! This is one of those AI + SEO updates that I find genuinely useful, because it can help reduce a lot of the repetitive manual work involved in pulling, exporting, segmenting, and combining crawl data with other sources.
Used alongside other SEO tools MCPs already available, like @Similarweb , @semrush , @seogets , Glippy, @ahrefs , etc. it opens the door to more practical workflows where you can easily integrate crawl, visibility, keyword, traffic, backlink, and competitive data faster.
For example:
β
Segment crawl data at scale
β
Compare technical issues with performance signals
β
Combine different data sources without endless exports/imports
β
Identify patterns that would otherwise take much longer to spot
β
Spend more time validating, prioritizing, and deciding what to do next
Thatβs the part Iβm interested in: not replacing the analysis, but making it less painful to get to the useful part of the analysis.
My only wish is that I didnβt have to burn so many credits across some of these tools to get the information I actually need π
And of course, the usual caveat: validate everything. The data still needs to be accurate, and the output needs to be checked. Especially when combining multiple sources or asking AI to interpret the results. I have trust issues, sorry.
But overall, this is a very useful direction for SEO workflows: better access to the data we already use, less manual handling, and more time spent on actual SEO thinking.
If you haven't yet tested it, do it now π
Our MCP allows you to set up prioritized content groups & topic clusters using your GSC data so LLMs have better context when you ask that question.
With the content change tracking coming soon, which will provide even better context to the MCP, I'm sure you'll love it.

Getting started with the @seogets MCP server. Neat stuff! Lots to work on but easy to get up and running. Thanks guys!!

Replying to @AlexLathery
Give @seogets a try. It's definitely one of my go-tos.
Not affiliated with them, just love what they've done, continue to do and the simplicity of their software for my use case.

The Content Decay map tool in @seogets is priceless. You can see at a glance all your articles which need to be updated for freshness. Strongly recommended for people running big content operations. Plus there is a free trial you can use to test it out first.

Keep your eyes on @seogets - They just added a filter to show Google discover data on their GSC dashboards and *Spoiler alert* they're working on getting GA data in their killer UX interface

I use @seogets - I love it. I had used SEOTesting previously - it felt pricier compared to seogets. Ahrefs is in my daily toolkit, but I feel like I'm moving towards using existing Google tools and getting the maximum out of them. However, I want to try a Google Analytics alternative and I'm looking to give datafa.st a try. I have never used paid ga4 alternatives till now.
If anyone has other good tools to share, please let me know. I'm a tools addict π€£

Gotta say it, @seogets is what Google Search Console would be like if it was made by SEOs, small but mighty tool, I am a fan!
Have been using it for a bit on a few personal websites, super fun to have reports for cannibalization, content decay, etc available with one click!

π Useful release from @seogets, with new filters that allow us to see the performance of queries in the top 10 or tp 20 positions from Google Search Console! See the difference in fluctuation/shift in impressions / avg position with and without it applied on September 12 π
A few notes:
* These filters are only available for those domains with Super Sites Integration (because of GSC API restrictions).
* It's only displaying non-anomyzed queries (because that's how they get average ranking).
* It's looking at the average rank on the daily level to determine if it should be counted. If it ranks position 6 on day 1, and position 100 on day 2, it would only include day one's stats, even though the average rank of the two days is 53.

eCom SEO is easy.
1. Open GSC, determine 10-20 highest performing collection pages.
2. Use @seogets to identify queries that each page ranks for but isn't present on the page (or only present once).
3. Add these queries into the copy, preferably in headings or near start of sentences.
4. Build internal links from 4-5 (minimum) of the other top 10-20 collection pages to the page you just updated the copy on.
5. Repeat for the other 10-20 collections.
Then repeat for your product pages (minus the internal links).
Then repeat for your blog posts (if you have some).
Repeat this for as many batches of pages as you have or plan to create.
Build backlinks to power up the entire system.
Drop your brand name all over Reddit.

My favorite @seogets feature is annotations. Not because it's the most useful, but because I use this exact one when we start contracts with new clients. And I love that green, baby.
Oh, and it's even better than this looks: The 9% improvement you see here (just the immediate improvement) is actually +23% if you compare the last 28 days to the 28 days prior to our contract starting.
(This is a recipe site that's been brutally dropping in the last ~2 years after structuring all of their content from lame SEO advice. One of the most satisfying things to see is that better, more user-first content is the RIGHT WAY TO WIN right now.)
