In Reno, Nev., I spoke with college student Leslie Vilchis-Mata, who said she campaigned for Joe Lombardo in 2022. Now, she feels duped. Prices are still high, and she is taking a semester off because she can’t afford tuition. She is voting for Aaron Ford.

I went back to Scottsdale, Ariz. to speak with Patrick Sullivan Jr. and Ashley Leroux Sullivan, coffee shop founders who embraced the marriage of MAHA and MAGA in 2024. Now, the couple finds themselves part of a contingent of MAHA voters who are slipping from the GOP. ⬇

Some conservatives worry the MAHA coalition is “up for grabs.” @Realalexclark told me it's likely too late for Republicans to earn back the trust of MAHA voters with just weeks before the midterms. And if the party fumbles on MAHA, it can "kiss 2028 goodbye" she said.

The first new copper operation in the United States since 2008. Right here in Arizona. @FlorenceCopper is projected to support hundreds of jobs across Arizona and generate $4.3 billion in economic activity over its roughly 22-year operating life. At full capacity, it can produce 85 million pounds of copper annually, equivalent to nearly 4% of last year's total U.S. copper mine production. And Arizona's copper industry continues to innovate. Florence Copper says its process uses 78% less water and 65% less energy per pound of copper than some conventional Arizona mines. We use copper for our homes, our cars, the electric grid, semiconductors, and data centers. Arizona can benefit from both sides of growth: attracting new industries and supplying the materials needed to build them. Our state's mining industry brings jobs and investment to communities that don't always get the same attention as the Phoenix metro area. Congrats to the Florence community on this milestone.

“When I think of God,” Dhruv Amin told me, “I think of the mountain.” Every year, tens of thousands of people spend a small fortune and months of planning to get to Mount Kailash, a sacred peak in the remote Himalayan region ravaged by floods last week. Why? To sit, they told me, however briefly, on God’s doorstep. New story with @GeorgiaGee14 @sejalg_ @nytimes. nytimes.com/2026/08/30/us/ne…
