Just looked at tickets for a serverless conference because one or two talks caught my attention and they want 1000€ for remote tickets? Wtf? For talks that the speakers have usually given at other conferences before and that you can watch online? Crazy.

#aws #eventbridge Have you ever created metrics from events of your EventBridge event bus? If so, how did you do it? For example, I'd like to know how many events of type X are flowing through my event bus.

I know that there are also EventBridge metrics providing the event source as dimension but they only help for matched events. And my events are not necessarily processed by e.g. a Lambda Function where I could easily see any invocation metrics. Any ideas? ⬆️

it looks like aws is building a new JS runtime and it has over 10x faster cold starts and is up to 2x cheaper on lambda 🤔

Deployed a new CDK stack with lots of Lambda Functions today and ran into a "Rate exceeded" error from CloudFormation. Then this neat message showed up to help me and I was happy to click "Retry" 😀 But...

... but my role did not have enough permissions 🙈 Unfortunately, the message only stayed there for one minute until the automatic rollback kicked in and removed everything again 😭 Would be cool to increase the timer for new stacks #awscommunity #awswishlist

I think most of us had similar thoughts before when working with CloudFormation 😀 As you can see, looking back from time to time often helps. However, it's always hard to... 1) correct mistakes from the past and 2) make the right assumptions for the future.

CloudFormation thought -- was 'Ref' a mistake? Why not just use GetAtt for everything? And what's the history here? Did it start with 'Ref' only, and then some resource had multiple attributes that were useful? Or did both exist from the beginning?
