Kyle, this is a classy move. Thanks for doing this! AWS re:Invent isn't at the same time or area, but we're setting aside 100 complimentary passes for folks with cancelled GHC registrations. While re:Invent isn't a replacement for GHC, I also hope that it will give folks a chance to connect Nov 30-Dec 4th, in Las Vegas. Please email [email protected]

Today we're excited to share Strands Harness. Strands Harness makes it easier to build reliable, cost-effective, agents with any model. It's open source, too! And equal or better performance to proprietary harnesses with 28% fewer tokens!

Congrats to @CoolAssPuppy for writing and publishing this great book!
Working with @jeffbarr was pretty extraordinary. I learned a ton about developer relations, but I also learned a lot about how to carry myself professionally. I was stoked when Jeff agreed to be an early reader. No doubt, his endorsement (and foreword!) made a huge impact on getting "Picks & Shovels" to bestseller status.

I am super-psyched to be able to work more closely with Darko!
Hello friends! 👋 Some personal news from AWS land. This week, I stepped into a new role as Distinguished Developer Advocate, working closely with @jeffbarr on how AWS shows up for developers across our own communities and channels. Over the last 10 years, I've worn the AWS badge in multiple roles, in multiple countries. I started in Premium Support, picking up the phone when developers were stuck. I moved through Solutions Architecture, sitting across the table when they were building. Then, I somehow convinced people that letting me talk to developers on the internet was a good idea. That shift to the Developer Advocate team in 2019 was the most fulfilling thing I've done here. It taught me that developer experience is what turns a working tool into a tool you love and enjoy building cool stuff with. It turns a platform you tolerate into a platform you choose. As a DA, I serve as a link between what you build and what AWS builds! In my new role, I'll still be speaking with developers and hearing what they need. I'll still be breaking down new and complex technical shenanigans to help people actually understand them. But now, I'm also responsible for making sure the technical voice of AWS (what you read, watch, and hear from us), remains useful, honest, and human. Big thank you to all the developers and folks at AWS for trusting me with this important work. Can’t wait to talk with you all even more now. ❤️ @awsdevelopers | @awscloud

Jeff is the whole reason I am a developer advocate! I had no idea this was a job until I saw him speak in Melbourne, then I realised I was born to do this job and made it my mission to get hired by aws (which also meant moving to the other side of the planet) Thank you @jeffbarr
💻 @jeffbarr joined Amazon in 2002, before AWS existed. In 2004, Amazon launched a web services beta. Jeff built some apps. The company asked him to come to headquarters to discuss. The next year, Amazon called about a "Web Services Evangelist" role. More than two decades later, he's still evangelizing to builders worldwide. Hear his story.

Open source maintainers shouldn't have to absorb the cost of AI finding bugs at scale. $12.5M from AWS, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI → tools, automation, and resources through Alpha Omega to help projects validate, triage, and fix faster. 🔗 go.aws/4tUyaXy #AWS #OpenSource

Amazon Quick has Google Gemini beat! HyperFRAME Research is homogeneous in our deployment of Google Workspace, we don't use Slack, Teams, or Zoom, we are 100% Google. You could say we are all-in on Google. Stephanie Walter and I have been playing with Google Studio and the various Gemini features for weeks now, trying to do one simple thing: "Go through all of my emails and find every email with the term "sow" or "statement of work" and then create a Google sheet with all of that info arranged into the following columns: name | email address | Company | short summary of the discussion | date of last interaction. Google has spectacularly failed, after hours of trying, to perform what I think is a simple task. Especially since it has access to all of the data and has one of the best frontier models in Gemini. Epic fail, and even asking Gemini to help was an epic fail. Gave up... Amazon Quick has gone from downloading, giving it permissions, to task completed in 25 minutes! And that is with me stumbling around with a new UI and not really knowing what I am doing. The process was not one and done, and it took about 10 interactions to give permissions and review output, but 25 minutes later, the task was done. Mind blown 🤯
