Homestuck superfans aren't actually read in philosophy or Gnosticism, they just like saying Homestuck pulls from it so it sounds smart, but all of their actual Homestuck takes are the most trite, indulgent sophistries they are also entirely unwilling to hear disagreement about
#nooticing how the people who like homestuck and, while accepting that it does have flaws, genuinely praise it are into shit like jungian and platonic philosophy, and the people who hate homestuck or suck up to people who do while still being fans are utter midwits
I like MSPA, don't get me wrong. But overall people who defend it's quality don't have these elevated thought provoking readings on it and instead tend to write off all criticism as "not getting it" and see everything through the lens of How Can This Character Be Transgender
Saying it has the worst writing is really doing Act 6 a disservice. It also has the worst art in the story as well
"Equius is among the least liked Homestuck characters" is an interesting take because it's true for the kinds of fans that make up the bulk of the fandom now, but not anybody else and especially not the fandom at Homestuck's peak relevance.
