What allowing Russia to sell oil products means was heard most clearly in Kyiv just now, when, after repeated attacks on energy facilities with jet-powered “shaheds,” Russia launched a ballistic missile attack as well. Some of the missiles were intercepted. This once again clearly demonstrates Russia’s true intentions. They count on prolonging the war, terrorizing ordinary people, and destroying infrastructure.
Every additional billion dollars they can earn from exports will be spent on nothing but sourcing and importing critical components and equipment to manufacture weapons, upgrading “shaheds,” producing missiles, and recruiting even more mercenaries to fight at the front. Russia’s choice is war. And they will be ready to end it only when they feel that their ability to drag the war out is diminishing.
Unfortunately, the signals Russia received yesterday were entirely different – signals suggesting that it could simply keep attacking. And this needs to be corrected. Strong signals are needed from the United States, Europe, and other partners – signals in support of Ukraine and to RESTRICT Russia’s ability to wage war and terrorize people. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Peace never comes through weakness. Today, representatives of the U.S. Congress were in Kyiv – a bipartisan delegation – and I am grateful to them for visiting Ukraine at such a difficult time. They asked: what is needed to end the war? The answer must be strong. There must be sanctions under the Lindsey Graham bill, there must be support for Ukraine in protecting lives, and there must be pressure on Russia for its war. And today, there was a conversation between the leaders of America and Russia. A conversation that leads to something different.
Recently, there was a European decision to lift sanctions on Russian oligarchs. Since then, Russian strikes and the torment of people have only increased. This past week alone, there was a brutal Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, aerial bombs were dropped on Kramatorsk – on ordinary city buses – and there have been constant attacks on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure and on the life-sustaining infrastructure in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and our other cities. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds wounded.
The Russians are compensating for their inability to achieve their objectives on the battlefield with this kind of terror. This year, Russia is weaker on the battlefield than at any other point in the war. That is why Putin is relying on terror. That is why he is relying on attempts to strike backroom deals to secure some form of pressure relief for Russia, in order to buy more time and more opportunities for war.
Any easing of sanctions against Russia without a clear and lasting de-escalation agreement with Russia is an obvious weakness. It plays into Russia’s hands – allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world.
Ukraine is ready to take symmetrical de-escalatory steps, and the American team knows our position. Our strikes on Russian oil refineries and other oil facilities are a response to Russia’s years-long campaign of terror against Ukraine’s energy sector. Ukraine will not set Russian oil refineries on fire if Russia does not destroy our energy infrastructure. This is the kind of agreement we are proposing to America, and we believe the United States has enough power to achieve such a compromise.
Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis.
We count on America’s fair support for our defense of life, for our defense of people in Ukraine – and on the United States having a correspondingly strong conversation with Russia. A strong one, not a weak one.

We need lower diesel prices for American farmers, ranchers and consumers, but buying Russian fuel is the wrong answer. Ukraine has been striking Russian refineries because they fuel and finance Putin’s illegal invasion. Putin is looking for a way to get the United States to pressure Ukraine to stop striking those refineries. I hope Ukraine continues to destroy Russia’s diesel production capacity. Congress overwhelmingly passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia Act, and President Trump signed it into law. Now is the time to use those sanctions to squeeze Putin’s war machine, not reward a dictator by putting more money in his hands while he continues targeting and killing Ukrainian civilians.
‼️TRUMP: I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter. Additionally, based on the condition of their Diesel Refineries, Russia will then deliver, within a short period of time, 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel.

So, we’re sending funds to Russia
Zelensky needs to blow up every Russian refinery possible
Also Trump should be impeached for this

This is completely outrageous and disgusting. This must immediately be blocked by Congress and Trump should be impeached for this. The US is now funding Putin’s war machine as he murders civilians including children. We are lost as a country.

Pete Hegseth announced that the Department of Defense would publicly execute Nidal Hasan and live stream the execution. There is no doubt that Nidal Hasan is a murderer who took the lives of 13 people and injured dozens. He should face justice for that. But a public execution? Here in the United States? It’s the kind of thing Iran and the Taliban do. Is this who we want to be associated with? Pete Hegseth’s campaign of “maximum lethality” and his comments about “killing people” and now his desire to publicly execute a prisoner indicate to me that his expiration date in this job has long passed. He should be removed immediately. And this administration needs to reevaluate its priorities. How about they trade glorifying violence for solving some problems and delivering for the American people? We need to be reminded of the nation we can be at our best. As President Ronald Reagan said “compassion, vision, and a fundamental sense of decency are the hallmarks of our national character.” That is not what we’ve seen from this President and his administration. We need to find that again.

Cassidy Hutchinson had her entire career ahead of her and she was willing to sacrifice it to do what so few in Washington are willing to do: tell the truth.
She has shown more courage, patriotism, and integrity than the Republican politicians who had far more power, far less to lose, and still chose to remain silent.
She is an American hero and this shameless witch hunt against her is nothing more than a vindictive waste of time and taxpayer resources.
JUST IN: Trump’s DOJ is seeking a federal criminal indictment of former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who testified against Trump during the Jan. 6 investigation, for allegedly lying to Congress, Punchbowl News reports.
DOJ’s Civil Rights Division presented evidence to a federal grand jury Tuesday and is expected to present more evidence and witnesses later this month, according to sources familiar with the matter.

I oppose the death penalty, but I didn't always feel that way. I understand the people who support it - because I once was one of them.
But either way, the death penalty staged as a public spectacle is an abomination and stains us all.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve become ever more wary and suspicious of those who confidently claim to be wearing the armor of God.
Hegseth: We’re placing spiritual health at the same level as physical health. Our department is, you might say, putting on the full armor of God. Because while we wage physical war, we all know the real battle is spiritual. God is good. Evil is not. And America's military must understand the difference

I join Natalie Khalil in calling on the Syrian government to release her father, Suleiman Khalil—the former mayor of the Christian city of Sadad—who has been detained for 19 months without charge or access to a lawyer.
A careful review of his case should make clear that his leadership in defending Sadad against ISIS—an effort credited with protecting more than 9,000 residents—should be honored, not punished.
Detention without charge cannot continue. The Syrian government can correct this injustice by releasing him immediately.
I was honored to spend time with Natalie and learn more about her family, her community, and her father’s situation. Please pray for Suleiman’s health and safety—and for his swift release.
Human rights groups are raising alarms over the detention of Suleiman Khalil, a Christian who has been detained without charge in Syria since February 2025. His daughter, Natalie Khalil, and Joel Veldkamp with @CSI_humanrights discuss what we know about her father's imprisonment.

And there it is. Just as I predicted. They’re canceling Congress tomorrow to avoid the vote on IMPEACHING @SecWar. It will also make it harder for us to reach 218 signatures on the Epstein Discharge Petition before the election. We were at 190+ signatures last night.

Lake Pennsylvania Proposal Generates Democrat Threats and Hate Mail
My proposal to rename Lake Erie as Lake Pennsylvania has certainly generated some attention. I wasn’t walking around and one day thought “hey, we should name it Lake Pennsylvania.”
The comments and statistics at the recent joint House Tourism and Game and Fisheries committees in Erie are what drove this idea. Those who spoke made a strong case that Pennsylvanians cultivation through money and effort of this vast natural resource is why we should take pride and ownership of it. The lake borders other states.
Pennsylvania leads in the lake’s conservation and numerous improved boat launches. Despite the small amount of shoreline there are 11 beaches in Presque Isle State Park. Surf fishing. Sunbathing. Boating with the family. East coast folks who frequent Florida may not visit much, but residents of New York and Ohio sure do. There is a concern that Ohio will want to claim it.
The name of Lake Erie has officially changed from its original Indigenous designation several times. Originally, local tribes had named it for the panther:
• Erielhonan: Originally called Erielhonan(meaning "long tail" or referencing a panther/wild cat) by the local Erie tribe. In their religion, there was a n underwater wildcat who protected them and they revered it.
• Lac du Chat (Lake of the Cat): Adopted by French explorers and settlers who believed the native name referred to a wild cat.
The name Lake Erie was adopted later by European settlers, who butchered the original tribal name into the modern version.
Unfortunately, calls and emails to my office don’t seek to discuss the issue. Instead, I get messages calling me names and spewing invective that my staff has read and hear as well. Are folks not aware that it’s not unusual for different peoples to refer to the same thing by different names? Can they not engage in conversation?
Let’s look at Lake Michigan’s names through the centuries, noting the fact it borders other states:
• Michigami: The original Ojibwe Indigenous name meaning "large water" or "large lake".
• Grand Lac: Used briefly by early French explorer Samuel de Champlain.
• Lake of the Stinking Water / Lake of Puants: Labeled by the French based on early local translations and maps around 1634–1670.
• Lac des Illinois (Lake Illinois): Used by French explorers and mapmakers in the late 17th century (recorded around 1679–1688).
• Lac St. Joseph and Lac Dauphin: Alternative names used by various early European mapmakers.
• Lake Michigan: The modern anglicized adaptation even though it borders other states.
This isn’t the first time a proposal of mine generated an ugly incident. Property taxes are a huge issue in Berks County. And I was the only one in General Assembly who was vocal and did something about it with a constitutional amendment that was voted on by the people.
My efforts put me in the spotlight on the issue. So, years ago when a man in Berks County got his property tax bill, he picked up the phone, called me and said, “I’m coming to blow your ----ing head off!”
How can we be surprised at this ridiculous and dangerous behavior when we have a potty-mouth governor who as attorney general declared a woman with over 20 stab wounds, many to her back, was a case of suicide. He’s also trying to steal his neighbor’s land.
Twenty-five years ago today, we lost 2,977 souls and in the years since, thousands more to illnesses caused by the attack on our country.
This morning, Jill and I hold close the families who carry that loss every day. We honor the heroes of September 11th: the firefighters and police officers who rushed into the towers and the Pentagon, the passengers who fought back over Shanksville, and the generation that stepped up to serve in the aftermath.
Even now, we remember the greatest lesson of one of our nation's darkest days: at our most vulnerable, unity is our most powerful strength.
We will never forget.
Former President Barack Obama, former President Joe Biden, former President George W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton and their wives are at Friday morning’s New York City 9/11 ceremony.
