I don't trust people who speak against holding grudges. And none of that "resentment is like poison" bs especially when I'm not keeping them around. I can compartmentalize just fine and hold things against people who did me wrong. I sleep better knowing they can't try me again.

I don't get the criticism of this. Why should diasporans not celebrate their Nigerian heritage because they're not directly connected to the lived experiences of resident Nigerians?
Immigrant groups from many troubled countries celebrate their heritage yearly here. Why can't we?
So pleased for her.

Some of you don't need to end the relationship, you need to downgrade it. One of the biggest mistakes I think we're making with our relationships is believing that we only have two options. Staying close or cutting someone off. But there is a third option that we don't talk about nearly enough, and that's that you can reorganize any relationship you have in your life. Maybe this person can't be the close friend you hoped that they would be. Maybe a relationship with a sibling, for example, is never going to have the emotional intimacy you wish it had. And maybe there are certain subjects you simply cannot discuss with one of your parents without the relationship going off the rails. And trust me, I know that there can be real grief in accepting these things, but accepting the other person's limitations doesn't have to end the relationship. You can instead downgrade it and maybe that means you just see them less often. Maybe instead of spending an entire weekend together you meet for lunch or maybe you stop going to this person for emotional support, but you can still enjoy going to a baseball game together. Or maybe there are a few subjects you just respectfully decide are simply off limits. You're not pretending that problems don't exist, you're just changing the conditions of the relationship so that the parts that do work have a chance to survive. And I think that's a really important part of social health that we just are not talking about enough, because part of having a rich, connected life is accepting that not every relationship is going to become what we hoped it would be. And not every relationship needs to become closer and not every difficult relationship needs to disappear sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is accept the relationship for what it can be, limitations in all instead of ending it because it couldn't become what you wanted it to be.

At #TheNairaLifeConference2026, @Babajiide shared that financial discipline isn't about chasing luxury cars or giving up the things you enjoy. It's about understanding your money, tracking your spending and making more conscious financial decisions.

I think a lot about what community-driven modes of justice in so many instances. From communities that have suffered mass violence at the hands of Islamist terrorists to sexual violence, I find the typical way we engage with certain crimes to be insufficient.
Even when the perpetrators are caught and arrested, how do we properly address the harm caused?
